Replayability

Post by lancer »

Hi,

With any given scenario, if it's replayed, are the enemy units always in the same start positions and follow the same initial scripts or is there some variation?

Cheers,

The AI units will typically start in the same position, but after the first turn, it all changes.

Depending on the scenario, most opposing companies will have a dieroll to determine what their mission will be for that scenario.

+1

Also with some scenarios, at operational level, the AI has two or three operational plans available, and chooses one per dierolll.

And while units placed into map in scenario editor indeed start where they are at, reinforcements, airdrops, etc, they can be dynamically set to a certain location as per how the situation demands.

On that note, How much variation could there be?

That is only limited by the imagination and time.

I was wondering about that with the really good Geong Dinh scenario....as the French JUST managed to find the VM supplies and HQ in my playthrough right at the end, would their location vary or would I have an unfair advantage on any second playthrough given how important it is to locate both to get the win ?

Well, that was my first attempt at scripting, so I hadn't learned how to get fancy. So you would find them again if you found them once.

On the other hand, when you get the Operation Chopper, those supply locations are completely random and how the VC will react is also completely random. Every time you play (within reason.. lol), you should have a different experience.

Of course, that doesn't mean I can't update the script to be fancier!

I have every confidence that when I get to my next playthrough of Geong Dinh I will meet with humiliating failure and a shocking French body count [:)]
