Old features gone

Post by Gukal »

The amiga version from long ago had:

the possiblity of rolling down a hill if you fell ... extra damage and loss of a tactical position. After many battle in warring suns, I've seen no rolling.
Is this out?

the risk of a one-shot death from cockpit hit (no prior hits to head) ... mechwar was always a risky prospect. Can this happen with current weapons/armor?

grabbing items/dropping items: old missions involved grabbing an object/person and taking it off the map before the other side destroyed it. Hits to the carrying mech (especially to the arm) forced a roll to avoid dropping the object/person. Is this out? It was certainly a good reason to have hands (other than chain saws/axes/knives at the end of arms).

Arena battles: combat for prize money and honor ... with a chance to sabatoge your opponent mech ... and to discover similar meddling from them.

Whirlpools: some deep water had mech destroying whirlpools ... instant destruction. Often occured after a DFA followed by rolling downhill into it. Anything comparable in any of the various environs? I've mainly played with normal terrain and deep core til now.

Thanks for your replies [:)]

Crits to the cockpit may cause different levels of jock damage, depending on the severity of the crit. The highest level for a crit, critical, causes 40d6 damage or instant death. Depending on the jock's HPs (depends on constitution), he may die with a lower crit level.

I had forgot about some of these effects.. it's been a while [:)]

There's no rolling down hills, the map scale is a little big for it. Although.. There are 'oversteep hills' where you have to make a check or fall when you get to the bottom.

One shot death s can happen from damage or the recons can get their heads ripped off by a Tesla with no prior damage.

I had forgotten completely about the hands thing.. that was actually pretty cool.

No sabatoge or Whirlpools.
Power does not corrupt; It merely attracts the corruptable.
