I was about to grab this...

I saw this on steam, wasnt sure if this will work for my projects. Didnt get enough details from the store page and hardly anyone reply or give me the details i need to know on Steam.

So what i want to do is, make my own map or import them for Pacific Campaign that carry out engagements. So that will be running from AI vs. AI, would save me great deal of time and errors. That has Japanese units and hardware vs. Allies, such as USN, USA, British, Aust, India, etc.

Wasnt sure if those type of units are in there or be able to create them from scratch. As long end of the event, will give me the combat report (after the battle) that has everything i need from above, then i be happy to purchase this.

Just hate going through several games that has similar to this and ended up asking for a refund on Steam. Though Lock n' Load Core (Digital) plus Heroes of the Pacific and the Editor will do the tricks. Unfort it was limited what you can do in there.

Everything in TOAW is created from scratch. There is a library of equipment which should have the vast majority you need (and you can add anything you feel is missing) but you need to create your own units based on whatever sources you can find. I'd recommend doing your own research but if you prefer you can copy units from another scenario, just don't mix and match different scenarios as the standards vary enormously.

What sorts of battles are we talking about here? Bear in mind it's the Operational Art of War. While some people swear by their 100 yards per hex Napoleonic scenario, this game ultimately was designed for scales of 2.5km/hex and upwards with conventional land weapons in the mid-20th century.

Yes, the game produces a report from each "battle", but at this level the combat is resolved entirely mechanistically depending on the contents and characteristics of the various units involved directly or indirectly, the terrain, and the RNG. Scores, hundreds or thousands of battles make up a scenario. If you wanted to report on the results of the scenario, you could export the replacements report, which would contain totals of equipment still assigned, lost, or waiting in the replacements pool.

I suppose what I'm saying is that if you want the game to simply resolve a regiment of marines storming a beach over the course of a couple of hours, technically TOAW could do that but it's not really the right system for it. On the other hand if you wanted to play out a whole short campaign over anything from 100 km^2 upwards, and were prepared to invest the time to make the map, the units and place objectives to guide the PO, then that would fit.

If you do want to effectively "integrate" TOAW into a broader system using another engine, you should be aware that there's at least one 3rd party utility for XML import/export that you should find very useful.

The short answer to all of your requirements is, yes.

Suggest you look through the topic folder Mods and Scenarios > Recent Scenario Submissions. It contains user created scenarios and will give you a good idea of the tools and range of possibilities.

In the topic folder After Action Reports, you can see how many of these scenarios are played. Quite a few are played as PBM games and others against the AI.

Alright as soon Steam refund that game plus DLC modules i will grab it, its pending atm. So i probably have to wait couple of days.

What i mean, the combat report: IE certain squads, equipment, units, etc that was destroyed or least tell me what going on in there. Btw does this have any leaders? To command those regiments, etc??

Leaders do play important roles on the fields though.

Yes, a list of all equipment types with number engaged, lost and disabled (sent to pool) as well as a summary screen showing round by round whether units broke off or remained engaged.

Leaders are the main feature being discussed for the next release (though the development time on this is very long as it is at this point essentially one guy's hobby) but, as it's an Operational game, the emphasis will be on higher formation leaders rather than individual leaders for individual units.
