The Ghost Div Strikes

Post by kevinkins »

Attached is “The Ghost Div Strikes” which depicts German mobile defence along the Chir River protecting Winter Storm’s left flank. Quick to play (18 turns) with AI for both sides. Comments are very welcome.

This is great and much appreciated. Once I get out from under, I need to get back into this game by trying this scenario. Thanks again!

Just received some technical feedback. Look for an updated scenario in the morning.

Congrats! I think you are the first person to ever publish a WEGOWW2 scenario who doesn't go by the names of bcgames or Saint Ruth.

Sorry I was just able to get out of the bed from Covid to download this. It looks like your AI orders are a little more complex this time. :) In general I prefer the Panzer Campaigns scenario editor due to it being around for 20 years, but I really like the AI options in the Wego editor. Its nice to know that each engagement isnt necessarily a fight to the death, especially for the recon units.

Thanks ... trying to take steps forward with the editor with each new scenario to be a bit larger and complex to see what is possible. I have been with Combat Mission for years and the mind set at this level is very different.

Attached are the winterized maps for the scenario, cut out from the official mastermap that comes with the game.

the procedure to load them in the game is a little more complex because it's not one of the standard ones, but you can do it.

- place them in the documents/...stalingrad/maps folder
- open the editor and the The Gost division Strikes scenario
- go to the map tab and click "load image" in the lower right
- use the slider to check the map loaded properly
- click 'use this map for scenario in the lower right to make sure it gets used in play.

that should be it!

Also, here two articles on the engagement That battle is one of the most studied in mobile warfare.

The first one below is the most interesting in terms of playing the game. Lots of good advice on how to use your tanks :).
