Ship Designer - lowlighted/unsaturated components?

Post by maggiecow »

So, I've looked and can't see an explanation anywhere. What's the difference between components in a finished design that are highlighted vs lowlighted?

eg If I upgrade a Bastion design, all the components will start out highlighted/bright but if I remove pretty much any component then some components will dim. I thought maybe it was raw material scarcity but components using identical raw materials can be either bright or dim.

I thought this was dimming the component bays that were able to fit the selected component, but this pic is not confirming that since the sizes re not in sync with that concept. Could be a bug or something I cannot think of.

Yeah I noticed the component slots dimming when selecting something from the Components list up top - something I generally don't do, preferring to use the drop down menu - but nothing is selected in the screenshot.

Like you say, probably just a wee bug.

Something could be selected out of the scrolled view pane maybe?

Entirely possible! Haven't been able to replicate it so it is possible I clicked something in the upper panel. As I said, I normally just use the drop-down list.

I was able to reproduce this in 1.5.0.6. It indeed appears to be a bug:

1. Click to EDIT a station's design (I was editing starting designs for Humans)
2. On the DESIGN BAYS list, right-click to remove any weapon.
3. The bug appears

It seems that when removing a weapon like that, the designer also selects the same weapon in the COMPONENTS list. This selection doesn't show as highlighted, but when you left-click on any DESIGN BAYS slots for weapons without having selected a weapon yourself, immediately after the bug appears, it places the weapon component back.
