Using tanks or just infantry with trucks?

Post by MarkShot »

In general, a fight or two for infantry, and they will stay in 5 HEXes of Corps commander and thus receive the SUs which they need for the fight.

The same cannot be said of armor or even infantry given trucks for the turn. They rocket ahead on their commander will be at 5+ HEXes when they engage in combat.

I don't believe moving the HQ will assist in combat as I thought the HQ only delegates SUs if it has not moved.

So, a predicament?

How to handle AFVs, infantry w trucks, and SU support for combat at a distance?

BTW, I am usually handling my SU's at the corps level with most allocated to corp HQ. I realize I could manually allocate up to 3 SUs to a division and lock them in place. But the downside, is that they potentially do less fighting.

So, what are you masters of WITE-2 doing?

Thanks.

AFVs in this game tend to underperform and not have staying power after a few turns of combat. So generally they are best used as glorified hex flippers.

Moving the HQ forward is beneficial insofar as you do not get out of range penalties. Previously hasty attacks were almost never worth doing (especially with Panzer/tank divisions/corps) if you did not want to wear out your AFV inventory after 10 turns, but it might be better now with the CPP changes. I haven't experimented with them yet.

It's best to directly assign SUs to your Panzer divisions ASAP and just not use tank corps for combat as the Soviets. That said, the best German divisions are actually the motorised infantry. They will always perform very well and not just die out after a few turns of combat like Panzer divisions. Assign the RFSS brigades and Lehr/Grossdeutschland as needed to your mobile units (again, preferably to motorised infantry).
