Pirates trade with Independents but not empires

There does not appear to be any trade opportunities between empire and pirate faction yet or ever.

What do you think on the matter?

When pirates are a serious power, then they'll be able to trade. As they are now, they're a nuisance/threat.

Fair, but I wonder why they appear to be implemented for Independents, are they? I suppose it is moot.

In the future DLC's there should be improvements to the pirates. As of now, it is what it is....GP
