Subunits not shown in the Unit Dashboard

Post by aiden11 »

I noticed today that the subunits tab of the unit dashboard is completely blank. When I first installed the game they were shown, but now there is nothing there. I restarted my computer and reinstalled the game since I figured it must be related to a setting I changed. Unfortunately this did not work, in fact the settings changed I made were still there after a reinstall. Is there possibly a setting that I might have messed with? Is there a way to reset the game to the default user preferences?

It also might have been caused by pulling the dialog boxes to my second monitor, when I do this the resolution changes and many pictures are incorrectly sized with white boxes filling the extra space. though moving the dialog box back to the primary monitor fixes that issue and does not fix the subunit display.

I think I was able to successfully attach an image of the issue.

Upon further investigation I now cannot click the subunits tab in the dialog box without a crash. I tried a few different scenarios and also let a few turns play out and each time get the same error when selecting the tab. All other tabs work correctly, it seems as if it is just this one. I also read the pinned fix that has the exact error with a range check error, I don't have a high end processor though so I am not sure if it is the same issue.

One final note, when I restarted my computer to try and fix the original issue windows installed an update. I read another thread that said there might be an issue with windows 11 and an update breaking the game. My initial issue was before this last update, and the crashing started after the update, but there was a brief moment where I had the initial issue (just the missing subunits in the dialog) and had the new update installed. I am not sure if they are related but I thought I would mention it.

Can you please try the following:
- make a backup of, and then delete C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\My Games\Flashpoint Campaigns Player Files\flashpoint.ini
Start the game, and see of the subunits tab of the unit dashboard displays correctly, without moving dialogs to your second monitor.

(If this doesn't make a difference, close the game, then copy your backup of the flashpoint.ini back to the original location).

William,

That fixed it!

I am pretty computer illiterate, I assume that file is the one that saves the user settings? Does this mean that I wont be able to use my second monitor? is there a specific line in the .ini file that I can edit if this happens again?

Thanks for the quick response and the help. I was having a blast even without the subunits tab!

Thanks, great to hear.

I cannot tell you which exact settings you need to remove/edit.

If incorrect window/form size settings are the cause of your problems, then using the 'Info View' menu, 'Reset All Form Screen Positions on Exit' and exiting the game would also reset the form sizes.

I'm not sure putting dialogs on the second monitor (with a different resolution) is the cause. Now you know how to 'repair' problems, why not give it a try again.
