Please add custom battle function in RTW3

Rule the Waves III is a simulation of naval ship design and construction, fleet management and naval warfare from 1890 to 1970. and will place you in the role of 'Grand Admiral' of a navy from the time when steam and iron dominated warship design up to the missile age.

Please add custom battle function in RTW3

Post by woos1981 »

HI DEV one suggestion Please add custom battle function in RTW3. Players can design, save and retrieve ships of various countries and levels in a pool, and freely choose the battle area and adjust the battle environment. I think this will be a very cool function, and can greatly increase the gameplay of this game, thank you!

+1

Would be also VERY helpful to test for bugs. I was tester for War in the East and the ability to create test scenarios with the editor quickly helped tremendously to find all the bugs with various subsystems and formulas.
RtW3 simply doesn't have that functionality, you always have to hope that a certain situation comes up naturally. And editing savegames goes beyond my committement.

E.g. there was a suspected bug on discord that +1 guns have worse accuracy than 0 guns beyond the intended random malus for +1 guns. Almost impossible to prove in a normal campaign, and to Notepad++ing all this is not fun.

I'm glad you agree, Sir. I totally agree with you, it would be perfect if the custom battlefield feature could also modify the type and number of coastal batteries, I think

Not sure but fleet exercises should do the shot for this one?

You could use fleet exercises for this. But you would need to do some savegame editing since you need ships with +1 and 0 guns and a special slow and heavily armoured target ship so that you can obtain representative results.

Which is all possible, but I don't enjoy searching through a big save file to do all this.

With an editor to

1) Set research level
2) Design warships
3) Create a custom battle

we could not only create fun custom battles or challenge runs, but also do this kind of testing very quickly.

I totally agree with you sir, your description of the feature is quite accurate, and I would be willing to pay for it if the features described above could be developed
