Invading where?

I was just complaining about how I couldn't invade the Russian Far East!

Just before that I got this error message

And the funny thing was, I hadn't prepared any invasion at all. Instead, I think the enemy was planning to invade one of my colonies.

When I played on in this game, the enemy had actually invaded one of my colonies.
