Actually 2.5 years since they announced a final patch was coming. I am extremely appreciative of the efforts to keep improving the game, but I am a bit perturbed at no dates being given. I spent my entire career in engineering so I know all about the unknown factors, but you always set a target date. Same with conducting a war, millions of unknowns but you set dates! We are all adults and will understand if dates slip due to this or that. But 2.5 years in the dark is just wrong.

So how about they release it with errors to satisfy people who want it fast.
What errors? From what I recall the people who are sitting on it now have nothing to do with the actual content & the team that worked on the updated content is done. I suppose the Matrix QC process "could" involve two people actually playing the GC until 1946 to playtest the game balance (sarcasm). :ugeek:

Joe Wilkerson reported that the patch was turned over to Matrix on March 12, 2024 so it's now a week shy of 60 days that everything has been in their hands.

It has indeed been 2.5 years since the idea of a final patch was floated though.

My belief is that this patch is down very low on the priority list, and we have to face the fact that WitP-AE is a very, very, niche product in a niche hobby and marketplace. Only Matrix/Slitherine know what's going on and it's not as if they seem very interested in keeping (let's be honest here) a small minority of their customers and enthusiasts informed.

While there is an occasional sale of a an older $79 title, and new players it's not like this is bringing in much revenue anymore, and as one person here likes to point out, patches ARE free. Priority and money go to the newer shiny things I think.

I guess what I'm trying to say here is that it makes no sense to start getting restless, sarcastic or short tempered. Sure, we all want the update but only Matrix knows what's going on, and they aren't listening it seems, or talking.

Oh, and personally I don't care who posts pictures. Sometimes they are funny, other times not so much, but I don't see that it hurts anything. Beats the hell out of arguing.

Yeah, that was the last bit of solid news.

We are investigating one issue.

Will post update here when we know more.
So, the ball is in the Matrix court. However, the pessimist in me can't help but think of the days of physical documents when files you thought were being worked on were eventually found stuffed in the back of an old filing cabinet with coffee ring stains on them. It would help if there was the odd bit of news.

I will admit that I had beta tested the beta release that I was given and I quit counting at over 40 errors in Scenario 2. Some of those were database errors, some could be fixed in the editor, while others were map errors. I did not try to play fair against the AI as can be seen by my first and only AAR thread. I mean, an "R" class battleship sinking the Shokaku?

I mean, if you tried to find the P-40B for the Americans on the list of aircraft on the Intelligence screen list of aircraft, you would not have found it. However, you would have seen the Warhawk listed but no "P-40B" in front of it. :? I also had a B-29 unit come to the East Coast in 1942. I also had ships come in before they were built. So all of that would been to be gone over and checked otherwise . . .

All that said, is there someone who would so kindly ping Matrix for an ETA? If it's December for a Christmas sale event I would be disappointed but I would at least feel better knowing.
And again, thanks to the crew who made all this happen.

I don't know. That could also be something to ask Matrix.

Well, btd64 did the manual and is part of the final patch team. Other than being supportive and answer what questions he can here and over at Jochen's Discord he is obviously under NDA about it (as they all are no doubt).
Not sure what folks expect- Joe has told us what he can as well so all we can do is wait.
Looking at the Matrix/Slitherine site and "upcoming" YT coverage, it seems Erik is up to his eyes in work on new releases and all the stuff that comes with it.
That is a good thing from a continued support angle for WITP, they aren't going anywhere.
I know it's a slow time of year in many ways, let's try our best to be patient guys.

Yes, he did the manual and is on the patch team but I don't think that he works for Matrix nor Slitherine and he may not have any more information about the progress on the update either.

Now, this update is free and I bought the game after the .1126 update so I don't really have experience of the game before that. But I do appreciate the free updates and support. Now if I could only buy the update team a bier or three . . .

I am not sure if this is the new manual or the old manual.
4.2.4.3 HEX COMMAND DISPLAY
.
.
.
Along the top of the HCD is a list of all base assets along with a number indicating a measure
of that asset:
» Port # (#) indicates the port size (to the left of the parenthesis) and
the Standard Potential Size (SPS) possible (in the parenthesis).
A port can build up to the SPS at normal engineer/supply cost,
{page}45
Getting Started
but can build up to 3 over the SPS by expending extra engineers
and supplies (although you can never build a size 10 port).
» Airfield # (#) indicates the airfield size (to the left of the parenthesis)
and Standard Potential Size (SPS) possible (in the parenthesis).
An airfield can build up to the SPS at normal engineer/supply cost,
but can build up to 3 over the SPS by expending extra engineers
and supplies (although you can never build a size 10 airfield).
.
.
.
How do the engineers get expended?
expending extra engineers
Needless to state, I am confused . . .

First the bad news....we still don't know when the patch is coming other than "soon." The good news is I quit playing a couple of years ago upon news of a forthcoming patch and have forgotten most everything so when I start my next campaign it will feel like a new game all over again :)
