I have to say I don't fancy England this time around. I wouldn't be surprised at a group stage knock-out.

We have the best collection of players I've ever known an England team to be able to call upon - but for some reason we can't seem to ever put in a performance that reflects this.... and the warm up friendlies were embarrassing.

Still, you never know, and hope springs eternal Baldrick :D

I wonder why BVB's stadium is stated as a capacity in the 60,000's? Their capacity is over 80,000. Maybe UEFA has limited it for the tounament?
Yes reduced from 81000 to 62000 due to replacing standing sections with seats to comply with UEFA tournament rules.

I'm going (and hoping) for a sneaky 0-1 to Scotland.... but I could be a little optimistic here :o
The German team is not fancied but... to underestimate them in their own backyard is never a good idea. Ask the great Hungarian side of the mid fifties...

The Scots didn't have an answer to the German high press. And a horror tackle with a sending off killed off any chance of recovery. Scotland could have done better but they allowed Germany to put a stranglehold on the game and they had no way to shake it off.

Since whole topic is about Pro UK, for you two guys. just wonder you have a plan to watch Euro Cup in Germany. It would be interesting topic and observation from the front. We all watch Euro Cup but would be more interesting than who lost or win. :)

I do not understand your point. :?: :(

This thread have been discussing pretty much every major tournament in the past twelve, or so, years. It started, if my memory serves, as a discussion about the Euros.

I would be glad to hear your points on football from all over the world, if you like to share. :)

A couple of things:

A) this topic is not “pro UK”. As Orm said, anyone can join in and discuss whatever countr(ies), players etc. that they wish.

B) no, I’m not travelling to Germany to watch any games. But I agree, if anyone is doing so it could be interesting to get comments from those there.

But as with any thread, anyone is welcome to participate.

Well after the disappointment of the AWFUL Scotland kit last night, let’s hope we get to see Hungary in their cherry red shirts, white shorts and green socks. FIFA need to clamp down on stoopid, and borderline criminal mucking about with tradish colours.

Hoping for a win for the Magyars today.

Half time

Hungary 0-2 Switzerland

Well that was disappointing. Hungary have been second best and so many players are making mistakes. Difficult to seem then coming back from that…..

Germany looked formidable against Scotland and on their home soil (Heimatboden :P) we may see normal German service resume.

The Hungarians came out to play in the second half and made a game of it. Switzerland were competent, tidy and somewhat workmanlike. Having said that the pass for the first goal was weighted to perfection. Enjoyable game to watch, particularly after half time. As for kits.... yeah but tournament rules...

Spain vs Croatia up next.

I haven't been paying attention, are the Spanish still wedded to their possession obsession? Are Croatia getting a bit long in the tooth? Will the Spanish and Croatian kits grind Warspite1's gears? These and many other questions will be answered shortly...

Best wishes,
Steve

Thanks shunwick, I think it’s important that we concentrate on what is really important 😄

Spain you better be givin it the blue shorts and black socks - and Croatia if you’ve changed the red and white check then there will be trouble…….

Regardless, c’mon Croatia 😄

Half time

Spain 3-0 Croatia

Yep gears well and truly ground.

But moving onto the football, the game can be summed up as follows:

Spain - three clear chances - 3 goals

Croatia - three clear chances - 0 goals

A good game but over already…..

Well done Spain - second half was a bit of a damp squib. No idea how VAR allowed the penalty to stand…..

Well, I am glad the Spanish are not suffering from possession obsession. What was going on with the Spanish shorts? They looked bloody silly. Enjoyable game, particularly the first half.

Italy vs Albania up next.
