Naval LB/DB/TorpB

Post by Gratch1111 »

So when training and moving pilots out of squadrons as Japan, the pilots loose experience points, I assume since DB/TB and LB are all very different. The loss is between 0 and 5 points and doesnt usually happen when you do the same thing with fighter pilots for instance.

Q: Is there a way to see in the stats whether a pilot has been trained on one of DB/TB/LB so that when I take a pilot from the reserve list, I then choose one that has been trained as a DB pilot when I move him into a DB squadron to avoid going from 71 xp to 67 xp?

If you want a DB trained pilot, don't pick a pilot that has been trained in NavT or Air. Pick one that has been trained in NavB . . .

Of course, that means that you have to train your dive bomber pilots in NavB, no matter what airframe that they are training in.

I do train them in Naval bombing but when he gets good xp in that I change him out for a new pilot. But then I have a lost pilot and want to replace him, and then the xp, not the navalB xp, goes down 0-6 points when I assign him to a new squadron and that is what I dont want

When the experience goes down, the pilot switches to a different type of aircraft. You need to set up your training accordingly.

Ok, but if you want good NavalB, DB and TorpB, they all have to be trained in naval bombing and to make that as efficient as possible you have to switch the pilots around between reserves and squadrons. So lets say you have a training sqd for naval bombing and you get that pilot to 70 xp in naval bombing, you then move him to the reserves. Then you send the same pilot to a sqd in China for experience, when you do that the pilot loses xp, not NB xp. After getting the xp in China you want you send him back to the reserves and finally you send him to his final destination, example a GM4 sqd, but when you do that you loose basic xp again. You cant keep tabs on all pilots and what plane the got their NB xp from, is there another stat that gives you an idea of what kind of plane they got their NB xp from?

Maybe I just have to live with the problem...

Do you know what? Other people don't have that problem so you are going to have to think on just what they are doing different than what you are doing.

Gratch1111, maybe train them in General Training? It trains a mishm-mash of skills but AFAIK it trains exp rather well.

Pilots lose exp when changing ac type and often model, but not skills. This represent unfamiliarity with the ac. It is unfortunate that the list of reserve pilots does not identify the pilots speciality. Using 'select a vetran' you can work it out by looking at their skill.

Exactly. Every experienced player works out their training regimen for each type of AC pilot. Example:
DB: NavBmb/Grnd/ASW
TB: NavBmb/NavTorp/NavSearch
LB: NavBmb/GrndBmb/Recon

Now you can sort the Bomber pilots by the stat the identifies them from the other two.

Float and Patrol are another pair that you need to be able to identify. F/FB/NF is a third group.

Hopefully this helps.

BTW: this is not a complete list nor is it the one I use. You also need to address LowNav, LowGrnd, and Strafe skills within your training regimen. All 3 of these skills are VERY useful, especially to the allies.

Good luck!
