Replacement Game Map beta for 1.28 beta
I had written a script to generate a map with data that I like to see and so ran it on the new beta. It is the game map with hexes with the data drawn named WPEN so it shows when preference Map Style is selected to without hexes. The files can be renamed to WPEH to have it show when with hexes is preference.
BETA:
I used the AE_Hex_Planning_Map file that was installed for the map, but noticed it is NOT the current map. If I cant find the current map, I will have to assemble the map from the 42 ART files. Also I could not get the witploadAE to extract to csv as it kept dumping .dat files and so I used the file WITPloc001.csv that is in the SCEN folder for the data. But it probably is not accurate.
To Use:
Backup or move to new location all 42 WPEN art files in WitP folder/ART
Download Map with Data zip archive from link at bottom
Extract all 42 files to WitP folder/ART
Set game preference to use Map Style without hexes
Download links:
Map with Data for first 4 fields and no manpower
Map with Data+MP for all 5 fields
PortBuild is upper left, AFBuild is upper right, Resources+dailySupply on left, Oil+dailyFuel on right, and manpower at bottom of hex.BETA:

Re: Replacement Game Map beta for 1.28 beta
I was hoping someone would respond with help on why my attempts to export to csv are dumping as dat. Since no one has helped, is there anyone that can export to csv and send the files to me?
Re: Replacement Game Map beta for 1.28 beta
Can't help you with the .csv thing, sorry
"Resources+supply on the left" - how does that work? In the screenshot I only see one value on the left. Is it supply or resources, or maybe a sum of both?
BTW, I would try different map mods. The stock map hinders visibility of the extracted data.

Re: Replacement Game Map beta for 1.28 beta
The left number is the Sum of Resources generated plus a calculation of the daily supply generated to show what's generated.
I have another script that has each field drawn into a separate layer so that people can customize how they please. They could then substitute the background map layer with their map art they like as well as turn on/off fields they want shown by turning on/off its layer as well as adjusting any layer how they like as well. Looking to assess demand and get things finalized before doing this.

I went ahead and assembled the game map with the current art and ran my script. Updated first post with this new link. There still is no update on getting current CSV extraction.
I have not been having the motivation to play because of the new disband TF pop-up. I create and disband TFs frequently and to be punished with the new pop-up every time means I am taking a break from this game but plan on continuing to keep up on forums.

Re: Replacement Game Map beta for 1.28 beta
It is just a misunderstanding
The "Dumping File" indicate .dat files - but in fact it is dumping the .dat files into .csv files.
I just tested it to be sure.
Witpload says "Dumping File C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\scen\wpd015.dat" etc. but Windows Explorer shows the dumped files as "file type .csv Microsoft Excel"

I have checked the .dat files dumped and they are not CSV. Looking at the contents of one of them have Hex:
Which is not CSV.
If you have CSV, which is text separated by commas, could you send them to me?
Code: Select all
A3 08 57 C9 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ? ? ? ? . . . . . . . . . . . .
00 00 00 00 4A 41 50 41 4E 45 53 45 20 48 51 73 . . . . JAPANESE HQs

Oh Wait... I see it now.
It dumped the .DAT files and also .CSV files but into the damn hidden VirtualStore folder. Gad, I hate Windows.
Running script and updating maps.

Ah yes? Well, I hate Mac. The company I work for has switched the entire IT equipment from Windows to Mac last week. We had to exchange our Windows PCs for Macs, got one hour "transition training" and now they expect us to work with more efficiency than before because "Mac is better". Heck, I have been working on Windows for 30+ years with all versions since 3.11! The Windows keyboard shortcuts are so ingrained in my brain and reflexes that I was getting ready to throw that darn Mac out of the window less than 20 minutes after signing for it... I"m used to type with an external keyboard with German layout - connecting it it to Mac no problem, but the first time I wanted to type an email address and entered the "@" sign, the mail program closed in my face. WTF? On a German keyboard layout, the @ is ALTGR+q, which translates on Mac into Command+q - which I learned is the Mac shortcut for closing the application. It cannot be disabled because it is a system shortcut. Great, this will be a long fight between Mac and my muscle memory! Sorry this is completely OT but just venting steam triggered by your "I hate Windows" comment.
Re: Replacement Game Map beta for 1.28 beta
I now have the current export. Textcompare.org shows 2 fields added and so I dont think any data that I use changed. Also there was a problem when originally assembling the map in that some art went 1 pixel off which I think is because I was zoomed out and it didnt snap right. So reassembled the map.
I dont think the manpower field is that important anymore and so I removed it from the script. Here are both versions:
Map with Data (which has PortBuild, AFBuild, Res+dailySup, Oil+dailyFuel)
Map with Data+MP (how it was - the above plus Manpower)

That sounds really frustrating. You can't do any better than your best. Good luck.LargeSlowTarget wrote: Sat Nov 16, 2024 12:52 am Ah yes? Well, I hate Mac. I understand your frustration. I have been here since the days of DOS. I used to format hard drives using routines in the drive itself instead of OS commands. Then came Windows in all its versions. That was fine. But Mac I was never able to get. In one past job they gave me a Mac laptop. After a week, I asked if I could use a Windows one they had laying around. A performance evaluation one month later, and they agreed.LargeSlowTarget wrote: Sat Nov 16, 2024 12:52 am Ah yes? Well, I hate Mac.
