Flickering Graphics and Square explosion boxes

Post by Banquet »

Hi, just downloaded and game looks great. However I'm getting a lot of flickering textures. This seems to mostly go if I deselect SSAO. I'm also getting square explosion boxes for weapon fire. They don't look so bad in the distance but close up they look terrible. I'm playing on an 13th Gen i5 with Intel Arc graphcics (4gb Vram) and latest drivers. Hope someone can help!

Replying to myself for info... turning off SSAO gets rid of the flickering and turning off post processing gets rid of the square boxes... so at least I can play without it looking terrible.

You should make sure that the game uses the dedicated graphics and not integrated graphics.

The laptop has both. Can you advise how I make sure it's using the dedicated (arc) graphics card?

  1. From Start Icon, type "Graphics Settings" and Click the results from System Settings.
  2. Click Desktop App.
  3. Browse your application. If your application is not on the list, you will need to browse for the folder where the .exe file is located.
  4. Click on the application name/icon.
  5. Click Options.
  6. Set the application to your preferred GPU.
  7. Click save.

Ah, thanks. I did that and still getting the flickering and square boxes so I think it must have already been using the dedicated graphics.

These are usually caused by graphics drivers, integrated graphics, or AMD systems. I don't know about Intel Arc, I think it didn't come up in Beta testing.

Well it looks and plays ok with SSAO and Processing off, but I'd prefer to have them on if they give nicer graphics. Perhaps we'll see if anyone else with Arc graphics have similar problems and if I can send you any info to help track this down I'd be glad to.

I can report that I'm also experiencing strange graphics glitches, particularly with fields of crops and smoke. It also seems that antialiasing is not working, and performance seems a bit odd. I have an AMD graphics card.

I can also see a box around missiles. It is barely noticeable but it is there. Using nvidia 2080.

I've also noticed some graphical oddness down the centerline (both N to S, and E to W) of each map during gameplay - a sort of flickering.

Those who have similar issues on an AMD system please post the model here, so I can decide which AMD to buy and try to fix the issues.

This is probably bloom and Gaussian blur, not a bug.

As an Intel ARC user I can confirm that I also experienced some graphics problems, basically all my weapon explosions become a very bright glow (and some other graphic flikerings too)

Thank you for creating AB1 and AB2 - they're fantastic wargames.

I'm getting flickering with RTX 2080Ti when zoomed in. Updated GeForce drivers to the newest but didn't help. Disabling V-sync makes the flickering go away but results in less smooth scrolling. No such issues with other games having Vsync ON.

Second PC with GTX 970 works fine

What flickers when VSync is on? When VSync is off scrolling should be smoother because there's no FPS limit. Have you made sure that the game uses the dedicated graphics and not integrated graphics?

Yes, that is bloom and blur.
