What Did I Download?

Post by ChesterNimitz »

About a week ago, I was looking for mods for CM: Black Sea and Fortress Italy.

It was late at night and I should have been fast asleep because the old brain losing steam.

Long story short, I downloaded a zip file titled CMBS 2022 All in One.

3 questions:

What is this?

Is it something I need to install?

HOW DO I INSTALL IT? There is no installer as far as I can see and no instructions for a manual installation.

I just spent 30 minutes trying to find it here without any success.

For some reason, I also thought that I had installed the same package for Fortress Italy, but can't find it on my machine.

The file you likely have is the collection of the mods required to support scenarios set in the 2022 timeframe for Ukraine put together by Ki OB.

Other CM titles also have a similar "All In one" mod package: they can be found here https://www.mediafire.com/folder/izmk6m ... at_Mission .

It is a good starting place for picking up the various mods they are available for the CM titles. You can pick and choose what you want. You will have to know how to apply mods and manage mods for the CM titles.

Yeah, that's the page I landed on.

It would still be nice to know what's in them so that one can decide if they want to install it all or just pick and choose.

It would also be nice to have at least a brief set of instructions on how to install the whole or parts of the mod packages.

Well, I'm afraid you'll have to take it up with Ki OB. I suspect he is just assuming that people pulling down this file know what they're looking for.

There are several compressed folders in the main compressed file, they instruct the user to unzip to activate. These folders represent the mods available for the different seasons, if you want a winter battle unzip one of the two winter files. There is one folder that isn't compressed for Summer 2017 - that is for use with stock campaigns/scenarios set in 2017.

For installing them so that CMBS will load them, the thing most CM players do is create a subfolder in the CMBS data folder named 'Z'. Once that is done add a folder called 'CMBS All In One to the Z folder and then drag & drop the folder of the season you want to play.

If you can find it, the JSGME MOD utility will make managing mods, enabling and disabling, much easier.
