Flashpoint Campaigns: Southern Storm - Bug

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Flashpoint Campaigns: Southern Storm - Bug

Post by StarySobaka »

In Southern storm the Line Of Fire (LOF) animation line is soooooo thin its barely noticeable. In preferences I have made it as thick as possible but it is only slightly better. It makes it very hard during close animations to see whats going on. Set at its thickest setting, at longer distances the LOF animation line is also thicker and thinner then thicker again ( like stretching a piece of gum ). Over all its still VERY thin considering ive been forced to resort to the thickest setting possible. I wish to add that this is a recent bug that came out some time ago with one of the latest updates.
While I have your attention Id like to make another point. I know your goal is to improve the game and its animations. IMO the new animations of the ATGMs is far inferior to the original version. In the original version you could hear and literally imagine the launch, travel and impact. In real life that captured it quite precisely. (from the targets point of view) you see the launch and you have a short time depending on distance to get to cover.
Ive been playing your games since Red Storm. Im 67 yrs old and have been playing wargames since I was 13. ( They better than crossword puzzles for the brain ! ). I enjoy your games immensely.
Whats new on Cold War ? Waiting impatiently.

Tom,

The settings in the Options menu will change the color, width, and Transparency of the classic fire lines. As for the animations, you can change the color for both sides of the tracers/projectiles, but the animation size is fixed. I will check with the team to see if there is any way to make those effects wider and more visible on the map.

Thanks for the response.
I have tried to alter LOF tracing in options but only the color can be changed. Red Storm and even Southern Storm used to be adjustable both color and tracing line. to give an idea (" - -- " , or simply " - " sometimes is all i see, or the line is so so thin you really need to be totally focused when many combats are being resovled. Seems like such a simple thing. It worked fine for years then suddenly dont. I will have to try playing a scenario of Red Storm on both windows 7 and 11 and see if its something there. Maybe the processor, ??????????
Thanks again for the response , Tom

Just checked, and the UI for the line of fire options has the same functionality in both games. You can click on the color box and assign a new color. The slider adjusts the transparency. The spinner determines the thickness. Ensure that you click the radio button and verify that a solid dot appears in it. The graphic on the right changes to show the effect. Also, hit Apply to save the changes. You should be able to make the adjustments. If possible, can you post a screenshot tof the User Preferences panel you are seeing? Thanks.
