Soviet Tank Division withdraw

Post by SSWiking »

Hello, i play as soviets 1941, no early end with my friend.
It is 15 February, two turns ago all tank division withdraw from map. They changed in Soviet Reserve box into tank brigades? They will come back automatically? When i transfer some of them with good ob into map, they didn't show up on map like a unit but like a SU's to armies and units... and only 3 of them with about 180-260 ob...

Thank you for help

They are all set to change to Tank Brigades, that's correct.

You have to move them yourself onto map. But they will not be "ON MAP" but will remain Support Units from now on.

Not quite sure what your implication with this is. It is normal for them if they change TOE to be "over" TOE when they get smaller. If you want those Units with too much stuff to get to the correct 100% TOE, you may want to leave them inside the Reserve TB and put them on REFIT, that's how they adjust the TOE the fastest I think. Otherwise, simply use the high TOE units and after 1-2 lost battles they will be depleted anyways. :D

You can build any Soviet Corps starting from a certain point in time (mostly historical dates) using the normal "build units window". There you can decide if you want zo build it from existing units or from fresh units.

You usually can only build Rifle, Cav and Mech and Tank Corps, yes. To build a "Motorized Corps" you need some magic.

General short info:
Since we are talking Corps. The Tank Corps are by far the "weakest" by themselves. compared to Rifle (~30k Men) or Mechanized, Cavalry (~16k Men) the Tank Corps (~9k Men) has "too little" Elements/Manpower. So it will have way less CV than the other (simply because of being a smaller formation). And in this game due to the limit of 3 Units per Hex you have some limitations and additionally smaller formations perform often "much worse" (e.g. you often can kick a German Regiment around in summer of 1941 but often have no chance beating the whole Division).
So the Tank Corps is far from being what you may expect a Tank formation (as presented in other games) to be like.
But this does not mean it's generally worse. The more tanks and guns you use, the less manpower you will lose and the more casualties you will cause. So instead of using Meatwaves of 3 Rifle Corps (as an example) in an attack, you may want to replace one of it with a Tank Corps occasionally (meant as a general idea not as a general rule), but then there is also the MP and all the SUs which I wont get into.....

So, i should can build tank, rifle, mechanized corps from march/april 1942? I couldn't find eny info about its, march/april is historical.
I see, i saw that post about hybrid rifle corps, but its is still rifle corps with lower movment points, so not worth for me and no need in my conception :D
Yea, i know pros and cons of tank corps, but i still love them, i love combinated weapons on my Battlefield so i will need them :D

If you are unsure when something can start to be built, you can find all the answers in the editor. Load the generic data and then consult the TOE(OB) tab. That will tell you all you need to know.

You can also build guards rifle corps any time in 1942 even if they do not appear on the build menu (as long as you have the appropriate number of APs of course).
