Naval Support Supply at Sea

Post by randy376 »

Howdy,

Rediscovered the game a few months and am addicted again!

I've been trying to understand the Naval Support Supply at Sea portion of the game. I think I get some of it, but I'm still confused by the effect to my naval groups. I apologize if I'm being thick.

1. What do the numbers in the "Naval Support Supply at Sea" table represent? Strength points? If so, what about those that are over the limit? Do they NOT benefit from what the anchors represent?

2. 1 (distance) and 2 anchors should receive -12 effectiveness if the just sit there.
1 (distance) and 1 anchor should receive -24 effectiveness.
2 (distance) and no anchors should receive -36 effectiveness.
What about 2 (distance) with 1 or 2 anchors. I assume this because is of other ports, but I'm not sure.

3. The crux of my confusion is I'm getting random amounts of effectiveness loss. Say I should lose -12 (1 distance & 2 anchors) and I end up with -16 or -18 or something else. Is there randomness cooked in?

Maybe I'm being anal, but any help would be appreciated.

Thx, Randy

#1 what page of the rulebook? Im not sure I follow.

#2 The anchors are all that matter for the effectiveness loss. The number is the operation points used to move.

#3 I am not sure. The number might be wrong in the rulebook and was changed is the most likely case.

No you are not being anal. I would ask the same questions. The game gets updated once a year because it is old now.

Thanks for getting back to me so fast.

The table I'm referring to is on page 74 of the manual. It seems to indicate some type of supply modification to effectiveness, but that's a guess.

You have designed 2 GREAT games my friend...

Thx Randy

Yea it's either a change in the game or an error on my part. I think the game was changed because the penalty wasn't enough.
