With Kurt Herzog's XXXXVIII ArmeeKorps just outside the town of Orichi and only 30 miles from Kirov the rain and mud slows the advance to a crawl as Infantry units slog through the forested terrain. Reports indicate apart from city militia the only real defence at Kirov are several Soviet AA regiments.

Further south on 4th Armee's front the enemy advance towards Ulyanovsk appears to have been abandoned once the enemy detected German armour crossing the Volga, however a new threat has reported northeast of Kazan Red Army tanks advancing in formation towards both XII and XLIII ArmeeKorps defensive lines, the lone enemy unit possibly performing a recon in force operation.

Army Group Centre

The weather turns bad across the central front, construction of the main defence line slows significantly since two of the three main rail networks are incomplete in the Ulyanvsk region and are almost 200 miles from front line forces stationed along the Volga, 3rd Pz Armee's main supply depots are situated at Inza and Zolotarevka and materials are being trucked along muddy roads with many vehicles stuck in the quagmire. A series of trench networks in front of the main line are constructed hastily fortunately the three Soviet Fronts facing General Raus Armee can do little to in the way of disrupting Axis operations.

2nd Armee positioned north of Saratov is also facing supply difficulties but on a lesser scale due to the fact that the major Axis Rail network has reached the provincial capital of the region and 2nd Armee units are being resupplied quicker, of FM Von Kluge three Armies 9th Armee has a fully operational supply network and construction is all but complete of the Armee's defence line, Brandenbuger now keen to push eastwards and destroy the remaining Soviet forces.

In southern France air units that were available to counter enemy bombers did manage to inflict losses on enemy flights but for the most part the enemy were able to roam skies almost unhindered and caused damage to rail centres and networks sending supplies to our forces to the front, ground defences were able to knock out some one the bombers but infrastructure damage was considerable.

With August in its final week The Allies launch attacks across almost the entire front in southern Italy , attempting to use superior numbers in men and armour to force a breakthrough of our lines. Axis reinforcements continue to arrive so as to replace front line units for rest and refit.

At Grazzanise the enemy once again attacks on two fronts against LXXXX ArmeeKorps, the advance by units of five Corps takes some ground as forward defence positions are overrun but follow up attacks are held and the enemy pulls back with heavy losses.

North of General Balck's positions 14th Armee comes under heavy attack as enemy armour with Infantry attempts to dislodge LXXXXVII ArmeeKorps from its heavily fortified Mountain emplacements, early success forces our troops on the back foot but the enemy fails to press home there attacks and the line holds.

While redeployment operations are taking place the enemy attacks the left wing of XIV Pz Korps positions, elements of four Allied Corps launch frontal assaults against Hube's Paratroops and Pz Grenadiers holding the river line in front of Campobasso.

On the Adriatic Montgomery attacks on a wide front looking to find any weakness in the Axis defences to exploit, despite repeated assaults across a 30 mile sector 10th Armee holds firm, enemy casualties are high for little gains the British Commander is forced to pull back his forces to his own lines.
With battles dying down by the weeks end 1st Fallschimrjaeger Div arrives, this fresh unit will be deployed into the line to replace the battle weary 12 SS Panzer Div.

As with the Italian Front a number of new formations have been sent to France to reinforce the Westheer Command, XIII SS ArmeeKorps, 3 Infantry units and 105th and 106th Panzer Brigades which will allow for more rotation of front line troops.
Attacks towards St-Valery continue by British and Commonwealth forces, however the fighting is on a lesser scale than previous weeks LXXXII ArmeeKorps is able to easily contain the assaults.

Greetings Field Marshall

Yes I certainly hope to push the Allies back into the sea before summer ends but the biggest problem is logistics, apart from Allied air power disrupting supply and replacements of manpower and weapons, not to mention the Eastern Front is siphoning vast amounts of men, weaponry and AFV's.

The main issue though is the Luftwaffe and in particular luftflotte Reich, replacements seem to be a priority for the air force instead of army.
Here are some screen shots

This ArmeeKorps supply priority status

I have reduced higher command priority and increased Korps level priority still not making much difference, cant rebuild my divisions to attack the beachheads quick enough.
I have began to reduce supply depots around Europe that are the furthermost from front line action and increase supply depots that are closer to the front in the hope to push replacements forward.
If you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate them as I'm a little stumped as to how to get my units back battle worthy.

But I digress

Despite this plans are in place more fresh troops are being brought forward I feel Normandy is the best chance to drive the enemy back, the Italian Front seems static at this time likewise Southern France, I need Engineer / Pioneer units for any successful attack at Normandy, I need to break there fortifications and I don't have enough Engineer units currently there.
So I will be redeploying as many Engineer units I can risk from the other fronts, I don't no how long it will take to bring the forces needed to succeed, I may have one roll of the dice left before winter sets in.

Good luck with the coming operations on the Eastern Front Feldmarschall :)

As more of a field commander, my experience with Ersatzheer politics to steer manpower your way is limited... In WitE2, you can change the TOE of airbases. Did you try this?
What units are under Luftflotte Reich? Are you able to set their TOE to a lower level? I suppose that there are a lot of Flak units under this command?

I have heard that Allied troopers are not paying their bills at French and Italian beach bars. The War ministry in contrast is properly processing every invoice.
The beach club owners want their old customers back!

Regarding the Eastern Front, o my a conquest of the whole area can end the conflict. What is limiting the further advance? Rail capacity or trucks?

AGC 94a.jpg
AGC 94a.jpg (791.25 KiB) Viewed 4 times

1. Capturing the rail network would straighten the Axis line and free up troops for other areas including redeploying forces to the west.
2. With Stalingrad not yet completely secured the rail line would allow for the direct transportation of supplies and materials from Saratov to Astrakhan bypassing the long route through The Caucasus.
3. Capturing Urbakh and Krasny Kut cuts the rail supply link for the Red Army's main supply bases at Novokuznetsk and Aleksandrov Gai.

The request for action being sent to Army Group Command.
