Editor issue with SCWITP
Editor issue with SCWITP
Hi guys I get this error when for example editing just the random combat odds to 0 and applying and then saving as a new scenario. I did not get this before new DLC nor do I get this in any other game in the series when I do this...

Re: Editor issue with SCWITP
Is this when editing one of the official campaigns, i.e. turning it into a mod?
If so, there is an issue with three scripts that appear to have become corrupted in each campaign.
I believe this only affects modding as you are doing.
Drop me an email with the campaign name and I'll send you the relevant scripts to paste over the ones there.

Re: Editor issue with SCWITP
I'll throw in another editor question.
How do I edit and or add resource values to a hex?
I can add ports and oil fields but I can't figure out how to assign a resource value to the them.

Resource values are automatically added once you save the adjustments and the scripts updated correctly.HansBolter wrote: Tue Jul 15, 2025 11:01 am I'll throw in another editor question.

By the way, I have reported the new 1.03.04 and DLC default scenario script issues.
Re: Editor issue with SCWITP
With the latest 1.03.04 patch, the editor has an issue when exporting data values: the screen where you select which data to export is either sluggish or it won’t appear at all until you close the editor.BillRunacre wrote: Tue Jul 15, 2025 8:14 am Is this when editing one of the official campaigns, i.e. turning it into a mod?

In this latter case, the lower right-hand corner of the select data screen eventually shows up in the upper left-hand corner of the computer screen, and the select all data button is at least visible in order to save the export.
But this has never happened before so it’s clearly not working as designed.

Re: Editor issue with SCWITP
So what determines the value assigned to a resource?
Many existing ones are 5s, many are 8s, many are 10s and a few are 12s.
How can I know what value will be assigned to the resource I add to a hex?

Re: Editor issue with SCWITP
Those values of 5, 8, 10, 12, correspond to predetermined game-default values, based on Major or Minor nations, and the resource type, i.e., capital, city, town, settlement, fortress type, major or minor port, and/or if a given resource is designated a Primary or Secondary Supply Centre, etc. The economic values per strength point can be modded in the game editor under Campaign/Edit Country Data/Edit Resource Data.
The details are the game manual wherever it discusses Supply.

Re: Editor issue with SCWITP
Thank you.
Does that mean that after values are automatically assigned to any new resources I add, that I can then edit those values?

Re: Editor issue with SCWITP
Well, you can’t edit resource strength/supply points, they’re fixed at 5, 8, 10, 12, per resource type as mentioned above. For original country ownership, conquering countries will get less I believe. Best to check the manual.HansBolter wrote: Tue Jul 15, 2025 2:58 pm Thank you.

As far as I know, you can only edit the economic values of resources per strength point under Edit Resource Data.
The economic values of resources are calculated for MPP collection on convoy routes and conquered territories, the latter of which are reduced because occupied territories do not produce the normal amount of MPPs for the occupier.
Re: Editor issue with SCWITP
Editor -> Campaign -> Country Data -> Edit Resource Values is the path.
Here you can modify the MPP value per display strength point, the max display strength, national morale value and scorched earth damage limits.

Re: Editor issue with SCWITP
But I think a player can only modify the maximum default strength points for units, not the maximum strength points for resources which are seemingly hard-coded to 5, 8, 10, 12.Robert24 wrote: Tue Jul 15, 2025 5:03 pm Editor -> Campaign -> Country Data -> Edit Resource Values is the path.

The maximum strength of resources can be modified in the area Robert specified (although the last location is Edit Resource Data rather than Edit Resource Values).CaesarAug wrote: Tue Jul 15, 2025 6:24 pmBut I think a player can only modify the maximum default strength points for units, not the maximum strength points for resources which are seemingly hard-coded to 5, 8, 10, 12.Robert24 wrote: Tue Jul 15, 2025 5:03 pm Editor -> Campaign -> Country Data -> Edit Resource Values is the path.

However, the underlying connection rules that denote the maximum strength of resources not connected to a Major's Capital, Primary or Industrial Center is hard coded.

Re: Editor issue with SCWITP
Ah yes, resource strength points are also moddable. Odd that I missed that, modding as I am with the editor more than actually playing!
But I knew there was something hard-coded about all
this!

this!

Re: Editor issue with SCWITP
What is meant by the reference to strength points?
I have the found the manner in which resource values can be edited to be somewhat cryptic. I cannot choose any given resource hex and edit the value. I can only edit the value for an entire class of resource types and then the manner in which the value is adjusted is even more cryptic requiring me to adjust some formula multiplier instead of the actual value with me having to guess what the outcome will be.
