1/144th Scale Miniatures

It's 1/6 scale ("action figures")....requires a lot of space...great for outdoor dioramas though

Wow! Is that a diorama made up of 1/6 scale miniatures? It's hard to tell if it's real or miniatures.

Wow! Where was all this stuff when I was a kid? I mostly remember 1:48, 1:35, 1:76, 1:72, and 1:285. This is like a World War II buff's dream! Especially liked the Operation Varsity photos.

Indeed. I enjoyed GI Joe in the early 70's, but I would have spent every dime to have 1/6th figures and vehicles like those.

That's true also, but were these things around back then? Circa 1970s? I don't remember ever seeing anything like them.

Very cool. I just placed an order with BPM for 1 of each of 6 different WW2 German vehicles, in 1/144th scale. I'll post a pic of them when they arrive. I ordered them about 4 days ago and they're still in the "processing" stage. Takes them a while I guess.

Before you paint them, do you put a coat of primer on them? Also, do you use an air brush, spray can, or regular brush when you paint them?

First I clean them with warm water and a dishwashing detergent, after that they are primed (Vallejo spray can) and
painted with acrylics and regular brushes. A final coat of clear varnish won't hurt either.

So the final coat you put on with brushes, and the only spraying you do is for the primer, is that correct?

- I would use the airbrush for applying the clear varnish

You should try washing and drybrushing techniques to add depth and highlights to the models.

What color primer do you use, just a gray color or one that is the same color as the main finish color for the vehicle?

I'm using a light grey primer, but in the end it's a matter of personal preference.
If you're only going to paint (mostly) green military models, a green primer is a good choice.
