I had enough surviving ships left to do some bombardment to support all the land attacks going on at Bouganville and New Britiain. I'm pouring troops into all the open ports except two at southern New Britain. But my turn isn't over yet so I can still fill those ports yet.

I detected a friendly airbase on the northern coast of Borneo and flew some planes there and attacked a small stack of Jap ships and it turns out that I sunk 2 CA's and a CL. The Takao, Myoko, and the Nagara/Kuma/Sendai. I guess that last name is an almalgmaton of three separate classes of ship, or something.

I guess I didn't bring enough ships. Well next turn for sure. This is turning out to be a hard nut to crack. I'm trying to capture it before the Japs can install some CD guns or some other kind of fortifications. At least there are no Jap planes there.

I just this turn received a B-24 squadron and I flew it out to Midway and attacked Tarawa with it just to get a list of what is in that hex. There's a lot more there than I was expecting. That specific base might need several turns of bombardment from ships to soften it up before I attack it. I'm going to go there soon.

I seem to be trading aircraft with the Japanese in addition to the land war. I see that the Japs vacated all the aircraft from New Britain.

I hit the jackpot with this attack. I sank enough Jap CV's to make Elmer ditch almost 300 aircraft overboard for lack of space. Reading from top to bottom we sank 7 of 8 Fubuki DD's, CV Hiyo/Juno, CVL Zuiho, CVE Unyo, and CL Nagara/Kuma/Sendai. Plus various types of minor aircraft. I think I just won the war.

Just as expected we got Wake Island. Next will be Marcus Island I suppose. Now I can collect all the AA units east of Wake and redeploy them.

I was trying to sail a partisan from where it was to here and I ran into a group of Jap ships. 2 BB's, 3 CA's, and a CL. I gotta jump on that as soon as possible. Without their carriers they are dead meat.

I ran an AA unit out to Marcus Island so I could get an idea of how rough it's going to be to take it down. Fortunately, there's only some CD guns for defense. I'm thinking I can attack with Marines and they might be able to take it down in a couple of attacks.

I made a maximum effort strike on a stack of Jap ships that contained some CV's. I lost the CLAA Atlanta, and the CV Yorktown. Plus ALL the planes in the attack. The only good thing is that I got to swat a handful of Jap aircraft.

I was lucky and got Marcus Island on my first attack. Those Marines are bad ass. Now I'd like to take a look and see if I'm within range of anything important. It would be nice if I could start hitting the home islands.

Yeah, Marcus Island is within range of a lot of home island targets. Now to move a lot of B-24's there and get after it. I have no idea what kind of targets I should go after first. I thought I'd post another Save game file here below in case you want a closer look around.

There's plenty of targets to choose from. I suspect that that black aircraft unit is one of the Special Targets. The destruction of that black unit has something to do with the Jap Production Rate. I don't remember the particulars off the top of my head.

Elmer hasn't moved the Kato Buti since the beginning of the game. I'm beginning to suspect that it didn't have any objectives set or something. At any rate I'm attacking them with the BB Washington Group because it's just three ships without any escort of any kind. I suspect that I can do some damage, maybe sink some aircraft.

First of all, I didn't even get a scratch on any of my ships, but I killed almost ALL the Jap aircraft and a boat load of ships. There's a couple of DD's that survived and maybe a CL or so. This deserves a second strike.

The range of my B-24's can reach anywhere in Japan. That could be a good thing. I'm wondering what the range of his Zero's is.

I sailed a British unit that was red in health from Singapore to Soerabaja to save it and uncovered a Jap SCTF near Martapoera on Borneo, that seems to consist of at least 4 BB's and a CA or two and maybe a couple of DD's. I feel like I should make a response of some kind. I hesitate to confront them with my surface ships because I need them for the last days to bombard Japan properly. I've had a little luck with my aircraft so I'll see what shape my bombers are in and decide whether or not to attack them.

Here's what happened to the Enterprise. I lost it in one of my maximum effort strikes when I was badly outnumbered. My bad. So it has only a single DD left in the entire unit. I've got no way to disband it and I don't want to do some kind of suicide ...hey that's a good idea. Run it toward Tokyo to find out what the range is from the home islands. Or Truk. Or Kwajalein. Sorry buddy you're going to take one for the team. Sorry about any prior plans you probably had. Send all the married men on your ship to the shore before you finally sail. Thank you for your service. Permission to perform your mission with a skeleton crew granted.

I sailed that single DD to near the Japanese Home Islands and it survived. That is close enough to satisfy my curiosity about the range of the LBA being within range of my poor terrified DD. Good enough. Good luck retreating from there.
