[WAD] B1774. GNSS jammer displays no radius

Post by Nikel »

In the changelog it is said:
The "Vehicle - Generic GNSS jammer" unit (facility #4582 in the DB) can now be used as intended, by activating any of its onboard generic GNSS jammers. These act on any GNSS-guided weapon within LOS and can disrupt its PNT fixes. When active, their estimated 10%-chance disruption radius is displayed on the map as a semi-transparent yellow circle.

Why do these units need to have a visible jammer radius, while all other jammers, on ships or airplanes, dont have one?

Shows up correctly here:

And from the "tint" on the black background in your screenshot, it should also be showing up on your system too. Try zooming out a bit?

With radar jammers, you cannot assume the properties of the radar you'll be affecting, so you cannot estimate the range at which you will affect it.

GNSS receivers are a different story: Most of their operating specs are well known, so you can make a fair estimate of disruption probability-vs-range. Hence the circle.

OK, is more visible depending on the background.

This is the base earth.

I usually only use borders and coastlines, so will miss it :)

I have a question. Does the GNSS enabler still have any effect on GNSS disruption?

Yes, both abstract and explicit GNSS disruption can be used cooperatively.

2 more questions if you allow me. Will create separate threads if needed.

It is a mobile vehicle, but will not move, sensors active or not.

For a mobile vehicle, is it not too powerful?

The infamous baltic jammer requieres an installation. The vehicle in CMO is less powerful, but not so much.

That looks like a question for DB team (worth to share real word examples so we can model them better)

I'm not sure, maybe the unit was meant to be a fixed installation but was miss typed as mobile ?

OK thanks.

I am not a member of the github site. I someone want to do it, feel free.

According to this page, the powerful russian jammer in the Baltic is a called “Tobol” EW system, an installation at Pionersky .

Another one is a 40 m antenna at Okunevo.

Russian jammers overview, vehicles, some of them reportedly very powerful indeed.
