Recommendation: Attack sounds playing twice

Post by MikeAP »

It seems that every time a unit fires its weapon then I hear the sound twice.

I'd recommend just playing the sound once. It sounds odd hearing it twice.

The game attempts to play the all shots fired in an engagement, and filters out some of the redundant shots. If you have a four tank platoon engaging a mech unit, the tank platoon will typically fire 4 to 6 shots, of which you'll hear a few.
In filtering the redundant shots, the game prioritizes filtering sound effects from the same weapon. For example, for a Bradley engaging a dismounted mechanized unit both with TOW missiles and Bushmaster 25mm, it will at least play one ATGM and one auto cannon sound, so you'll gain an understanding of the fight without having to read the radio log.

The game also places NATO sounds on one side (stereo speaker) and Warsaw Pact sounds on the other side, to help in reading the battle.

I've only ever noticed two playing and I'm giving totally honest feedback: it doesn't sound good. I would highly recommend just using one shot sound. It sounds as if the the sounds aren't blended and they cut each other off when playing.

I quickly noticed this. I get where you're going with it, but it sounds weird, especially when one side has more action than the other, then the game just sounds like its being played through one side of my speaker.

It would be nice to toggle this feature off.
