Any way to turn off the blaring music of the menus

Post by ruppert29 »

Everytime I go to search for a new scenario or to resume a game in East Front I have to continue to be blasted with the opening music

I believe if you go into the Autoplay folder, create an archive folder and move the two wav files into that new folder.

It should not play music anymore during the selection screen. I think!

Sadly no, that workaround only hides the static noise file from the radio/walkie-talkie. The annoying music file must be hidden somewhere else.

Main Menu plays the xbackg1.OGG for the background music.

Here's my old Dev Diary on how background music works. It's lost many of its images when Matrix changed their forum software a good few years ago, but maybe it is still helpful: https://forums.matrixgames.com/viewtopic.php?t=271795

Replacing xbackg1.ogg - for each game if you want - with something shorter or maybe even an empty file should help.

^ Confirmed, I put the original xbackg1.ogg aside, then created an empty xbackg1.txt file with notepad, then renamed the file extension to ogg with File Explorer. No music, just silence.
