Race to Fulda is fun but needs a script upgrade

Post by GiveWarAchance »

Hello I just played Race to Fulda as the goodguys on grognard with random Soviet plan

I did real good.... actually too good compared to my usual mediocre to dismal results. I knew something was wrong when I whooped the badguys and got a Decisive Win which is very rare for me. The final report showed a huge formation of Soviet Mech Inf that did not move during the attack.

I had a lot of T-80s and BMP-3s with some BDRM teams doing scout missions. We managed to brew up the lot of them with a massive pile of carnage for loss of some Leopard tanks and a few of my mech inf units smashed.

Look at my photos. First wallow in the beauty of huge smoking piles of Soviet carnage in front of my surviving units.
Then see the remaining Soviet units after the ending. There are 3 huge stacks of 28 Mech units each that did not move.
Also the AI totally ignored 2 of the objectives that were closer & free for the taking, and sent some of their units to attack my two objectives that were well-defended. I had assumed the Soviets would scoop up the two objectives nearest them and it would be suicidal for me to rush to those objectives so didn't try unit the last half hour of the mission and found them completely free for me to take.

Usually the AI is very dangerous in these Flashpoint games. This time the AI needs a script upgrade to go for all 4 objectives and to use all their units.

We can review the battle plan and see what the unit was going to do, but given the heavy losses and the lack of front-line armor, it may have decided to go defensive, as its ability to fulfill the original mission has gone belly up. Also, given the lack of reconnaissance on the 2k VP, it may not see it as a good idea to attack with only mechanized forces.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!

If you could, let us know the BP the AI was using or upload one of the saves from your playthrough here (an autosave is fine.)

CaptDarwin: I didn't know the AI adapts to battlefield conditions like that. It is true their T-80s were massacred early in their approach along with two teams of BDRMs scouting and a lot of BMP-3s too. I think if those 3 stacks of mech inf had attacked, I would have been in trouble because I lost a lot of defending mech inf especially the ones wiped out on the bottom objective plus I lost some of our tanks despite being in ideal wooded hilltops due to heavy fire from the incoming Soviets, so our defense was thin & shaky.

SgtZdog, I am pretty sure I left the battle plan on random. Sometimes I set it to plan #1 first time playing a scenario. I can send a save game but can't find them in the game folder. Are the saves in a remote document folder or something? And do you want the end save or a mid-game save or both? I have one manual save about halfway into the combat.

They should be in C:\Users\[username]\Documents\My Games\Flashpoint Campaigns Player Files\Modules\FCCW\Saved\ Any save will do. We're just going to load it up in our dev build and use our internal tooling to see which BP you're running against.

(Glad I checked, I thought they were in the install folder.)

I searched vigorously in that user documents folder and the Flashpoint Cold War only has one folder inside "Launcher"
I can't find the saves anywhere even using file name search.
I am using Windows 7 so maybe it stores it different? I doubt it because that folder "My Games" is loaded with other game folders.

When you go to Resume Scenario, use whatever path is listed at the top, that should work.
