No supplies at start in multiplayer GG WaW AWD

Gary Grigsby’s World at War is back with a whole new set of features. World at War: A World Divided still gives complete control over the production, research and military strategy for your side, but in this new updated version you’ll also be able to bring spies into the mix as well as neutral country diplomacy, variable political events and much more. Perhaps the largest item is the ability to play a special Soviet vs. Allies scenario that occurs after the end of World War II.

No supplies at start in multiplayer GG WaW AWD

Post by colbertcommo »

In the game "Deluxe - Gary Grisby's World at War: A World Divided" in the multiplayer part of the game in the scenario called "A World Divided", the multiplayer scenario begins on turn 1 in summer ‘39 with zero supplies for all of the players.

On the start screen of Deluxe GG WaW AWD, it says “Deluxe 1.071” in the bottom right corner of the screen and “1.059” in the bottom left corner of the screen.

How do we get the game to start in the multiplayer part Deluxe GG WaW AWD in the multiplayer scenario "A World Divided" with supplies for all the players on the first turn?

In the single player/regular part (not the multiplayer part) of Deluxe GG WaW AWD, the scenario "A World Divided" does begin with supplies for all of the different countries of the game as it should.

The game versions are correct. Could the option "No supply required" be checked in the game options menu?

The "No Supplies Required" box on the game options menu is not checked.

I created a challenge with Deluxe that you can accept for testing.

Axis has all its supplies. What about the Allies? If you're interested, we can continue the game, if you don't mind playing against a beginner. I own WaW since a long time and I know it quite well, but it would be only my third multiplayer game. I started playing online only since a couple of months, which is a shame, but as they say, better late than never!

The Allies have supplies as well. Happy to play... it may take me a few days to get started.

I tried again in the game "Deluxe - Gary Grisby's World at War: A World Divided" in the multiplayer part of the game in the scenario called "A World Divided" to set up a game with another player, and got the same result of no one having any supplies on turn 1.

Sorry for the obvious questions, but considering that I never had this bug before, let's start from the beginning:
  • Did you make a copy of the original folder of WaW and install the Deluxe mod in this new folder?
  • When creating a new game, are you using the WaW Deluxe version (instead of the original game)? In multi-player we can see challenges of both versions.
  • Does the other player have also followed these steps?
  • Do you have the same problem when creating a local game?
I have installed Deluxe many times, and never had this problem before. I only join three multiplayer games, including yours, but they were all fine.

If you want, you can create a multiplayer Deluxe challenge that I will join and see if the problem occurs on my side too.

Hi midgard30 - I'm the other player in the Deluxe game with colbertcommo that has the supply issue. Sounds like you were able to start a game with colbertcommo where there was no issue. Could you pls host another game that I could join? If our game has the supply issue, then it would seem to indicate that the issue is on my side.

Thanks

Supplies are there. This is what I see in the Military Forces screen:
Ger: 115
Jap: 70
Sov: 5
Chi: 10
WA: 70

A last test that can be done is that colbertcommo and you create each a challenge that I would join, to check if the problem occurs when one of you creates one.

There's something wrong with the file. I accepted the challenge, I can see it in my list of games, but I cannot play my turn (the Play button doesn't appear). My guess is that a file was corrupted during installation of the Deluxe version.

Doh! Sorry my mistake. I've just checked and indeed, there was no supplies for any nations. After a turn, Germany received 40 supplies from neutrals.

Same when I opened the game. Neutrals do have their supplies though. So maybe there's something wrong with the Powers' initial configuration files?

Unless someone has a better idea, I would uninstall both the original and Deluxe versions and restart from the beginning. Here's the installation's steps in section 5 of the Deluxe readme v1.071:
Since Deluxe AWD uses a new map, it will need to have its own separate installation. You have two choices in making your second copy of AWD. The easiest is to copy the entire game folder and rename it to whatever you like, for example “Deluxe AWD.” Or you could install right from the CD, but make sure you rename the destination folder, or you will just be overwriting the first copy.
Now that you have a fresh copy, patch it if you haven’t already. Next unzip Deluxe and copy and paste the dat and manual folders right over the old ones. It's that simple. If you did it right, Windows should be asking you if you wish to overwrite. You can confirm a good installation if you see the new map or the version number of Deluxe on the menu screen.
Or more succinctly, follow these steps and you can’t go wrong.
1. Make a new copy of the game as described above.
2. Patch that copy.
3. Unzip the Deluxe mod.
4. Paste the Deluxe mod dat and manual folders over the old ones.
