Note that the German anthem isn't the only anachronistic tune. Only "Rule Britannia" could have been heard during the Revolution (dated to 1740). La Marseillaise is dated to 1792, Star Spangled Banner to 1814, Deutschlandlied to 1848 (And Hesse not part of Germany till 1866), and Dixie to 1859.

Not only from these national anthems. Also from Herakles"Hercule" -Mightiest of men- Also Garibaldi spirit perhaps. They should be all part of revolution.

Half of the army was mercenary in battle Manzikert. Century later against Timur in defense Anatolia also half again composed of mercenary after collapse of Byzantium. Why thanks so much to allies and enemies here and perhaps mercenary. USA don' t need another anthem or nation to appreciate anything I think.
