What will be the next game?

Re: What will be the next game?
I think that World War One on the Eastern Front could be portrayed very well with this engine. There was a lot of naval action, some maneuver warfare, and some frontal fighting.
Perhaps even the whole of World War One.
The Balkan Wars of 1878 and 1912–1913.
The Russo-Japanese War.
The Russian Civil War and the Polish-Soviet War of 1920.
But my favourite theme would be 18th-century European warfare — the Seven Years’ War, the War of the Spanish Succession, and similar conflicts.
There was a lot of supply cutting, maneuvering and siege warfare, with an important role played by navies and navigable rivers.

If it’s too difficult to create a game that covers the entire Pacific War right off the bat, how about starting with *Uncommon Valor 2*, which focuses on Guadalcanal—where the fighting between Japan and the U.S. was at its most evenly matched?
Re: What will be the next game?
The game is truly a masterpiece by any definition. I will still have to watch and rewatch 9 hours of how to play videos. One suggestion I would recommend is that a future operational scale is to have brigades/ regiments at the smallest scale. Or just division/ corps at the highest scale. The scale for the Spanish civil war is the perfect measure to capture a feel of the actual war like no other game in history. For sales which is the lifeblood of any company, look at strategic command series, decisive campaigns series, warplan series. The upcoming Total victory game. Your engine can make a monster game that is very capable and playable that could out do ANY of these excellent games. All you have to do is find the level of playabllility of time tested favorites. The whole of WWII, WWI, ROME,The U.S. civil war , Napoleonic's. Find where you can make money and be producing more games forever!

And you are correct Gualdal canal would be and excellent choice!ham17 wrote: Sun Jul 05, 2026 6:50 am If it’s too difficult to create a game that covers the entire Pacific War right off the bat, how about starting with *Uncommon Valor 2*, which focuses on Guadalcanal—where the fighting between Japan and the U.S. was at its most evenly matched?
Re: What will be the next game?
I have been wondering how this game engine could handle early modern warfare — for example the Napoleonic Wars, the War of the Spanish Succession, the Seven Years’ War, or even the American Civil War.
I think the RSV unit concept and the game’s basic logistics model could work extremely well for this period. Supply was arguably one of the most important aspects of warfare at the time. Players could be required to build up sufficient supplies, stockpile them in depots, and then transport them to their armies using wagons, horses, rivers, and coastal shipping.
That could recreate the constant struggle over lines of communication and produce the kind of manoeuvring, sieges, cavalry raids, and attempts to threaten enemy supply routes that made warfare in this period so fascinating.
Cavalry screening could perhaps be modelled by adapting the current air system. A player might have to decide whether to keep a cavalry regiment as a normal on-map combat unit or attach it to an army HQ, where it could perform reconnaissance, screening, and foraging duties.
This could create an interesting choice: do I want a larger force on the battlefield, or do I want my army to be better informed, better screened, and perhaps better supplied?
The naval engine also seems as though it could fit early modern warfare almost perfectly.
The part that is harder for me to imagine is the battle system. Perhaps there could be some kind of “march to the sound of the guns” mechanism, encouraging players and the AI to keep divisions, corps, or columns close enough to support one another. Command structure should probably matter as well, so that forces operating under the same army commander are more likely to coordinate and reinforce each other.
For larger battles, perhaps the game could use an AGEOD-style solution, combining leader statistics with the choice of battle plans or tactical approaches.
I also wonder whether the game’s commercial prospects could be improved by allowing battles to be exported to a separate tactical engine, in a similar way to how Field of Glory: Empires can export battles to Field of Glory II.
Perhaps cooperation with Wargame Design Studio could be considered, using one of their tactical systems for resolving battles.
I am not personally a great fan of tactical games, so this is not something I would necessarily use myself. I am simply wondering what could improve the game’s chances of commercial success, because I genuinely think this engine is a hidden gem.

Re: What will be the next game?
Battle system I'm allready confused wirh WIE'2 after years... They keep it changing. For European conflicts as you mention only Poland developers left. Philippe join the the Green Banners Army in China so no AGEOD. Era is closed.
For development and audiance this is pro American and British forum.
Re: What will be the next game?
so?
will it happen? the next game?
i certainly hope so

It will happen... and not only one game.

I'd like this Engine be used to cover less-known wars, not just the usual suspects in warfare history that have been made a gazillion times. Here are some ideas of conflict theaters I hope we see covered:
- The Rif War (as a DLC to the Spanish Civil War)
- The Algerian War of Independence
- The Russian Civil War + Plus the other theaters (Poland, Ukraine, Finland, Baltic States)
- The Mexican Revolution
- The Russo-Japanese War
- The Peninsular War and the wars of Spanish American Independence
- The Soviet Invasion in Afghanistan
- The Korean War
- The Chinese Revolution and the following Civil War + 2nd Sino-Japanese War
- Irish War of Independence + Civil War
- The English Civil War

Are you doing any research on the OOBs and industries for those periods?WingedIncubus wrote: Mon Aug 31, 2026 12:09 am I'd like this Engine be used to cover less-known wars, not just the usual suspects in warfare history that have been made a gazillion times. No, but I would participate in the project research effort if I were invited to. *hint, hint*

In other words, you have nothing at this time to bring to any of these time periods for any development.WingedIncubus wrote: Mon Aug 31, 2026 3:06 am No, but I would participate in the project research effort if I were invited to. *hint, hint*![]()

Re: What will be the next game?
I really enjoy WIS. My thought for next(would take a lot of work) would be the american war of indepedence. Including the battles for the Caribbean and french english naval battles and indian campaigns in the west. Supply issues were a challenge for both sides. Naval combat was important. And think of all the smaller battles(more like raids) that took place.RangerJoe wrote: Sat May 02, 2026 3:33 amThis game may be more of an interest in Spain itself. Unfortunately, neither PBEM nor forum posts seem to be gaining much traction in game about the Spanish Civil War.
