Re: Next Generation Tracker: Staff Officer Companion
NGT 4.97 update:
You can see readiness status of all ground & air units in your OOB with a color-coded readiness pip. For ground units, it will also show you number of troops, guns, AFVs, etc, and total that for each parent unit. Additionally, you can add planned units (future reinforcements) to your task organization, and they will show with a dashed border. You can toggle on/off visibility of planned units. Lastly, you can save and export your OOB so you can load into other campaigns. If there's discrepancies in the load file and the new campaign, it will highlight them for you to resolve without failing the whole import.

Re: Next Generation Tracker: Staff Officer Companion
NGT 5.20 brings a number of economic tools, among other features.
See your industrial supply chain as derived from your campaign data. Conduct alternative analysis to project supply chain changes. Track the health of your engine pools. Nominate and track high payoff targets (both bases and forces) essential to your campaign plan.

Track your pilot pools by training mission.
Heat map to see the concentration of your ground combat power (assault value).

Need find time to look at this seriously!

The training chart has an error. 'Naval bomb' skill is not in play at 1000 feet; that level is for Low Naval attack.RedConkristador wrote: Sat Aug 29, 2026 11:54 pm Track your pilot pools by training mission.

NGT 5.38 adds:
You can create an Air Tasking Order for each mission type. It will evaluate the mission parameters and enemy situation and provide you an outcome assessment. If you have multiple mission types targeting the same base, it will combine them into an Air Tasking Plan so you can prioritize your missions (e.g. recon --> sweep --> strike --> recon (BDA). As intel is gained through combat reports, it will update the assessment. You can also see how much combat power (AV) in a radius from any given base.

Re: Next Generation Tracker: Staff Officer Companion
NGT 5.59 adds and improves some features, including some requested administrative functions.
Just as you can build your own campaign and operational plans, you can also do the same for enemy courses of action (ECOA). ECOAs can be grouped into operational plans if you believe they are linked. You can select from a number of templates. NGT will also track enemy units likely a part of that ECOA. It will also help build an intelligence plan so you can confirm/deny the ECOA. NGT will alert you when bases have shortfalls in supply/fuel and if there's no inbound convoy for resupply. J2 now also a technical intelligence catalogue that compares enemy and friendly air, naval, and ground assets.

In a future update of NGT, if you have a Claude or Google API key, you can log into Staff Duty Officer and have a LLM assistant. The SDO will only read what's visible to you in NGT, and it provides a list of what records it can read.

Re: Next Generation Tracker: Staff Officer Companion
NGT 5.76 adds several new features:
- LLM integration, including generating staff products and providing feedback within NGT
- Use MCP to allow AI applications, such as Claude Desktop, to reach into NGT
- Export markdown documents summarizing current NGT state (by turn) and upload into any AI chat you use
- hide Russian bases from analysis until you need to use them
Re: Next Generation Tracker: Staff Officer Companion
I was wondering if you were going to include the ability for the naval forces to be organized administratively instead of just operationally.
WitP:AE, Tracker and just about everything else just focuses on the operational organization (task forces) and all neglect the administrative organization (Flotillas, Squadrons and Divisions). With the exception of a ship being sunk or possibly sent to the Atlantic the administrative organization could last through the entire war. The operational organization, the Task Forces, is what is fluid. In the examples below battleships could be in one division yet operationally be put in different Task Forces.
The administrative organization is also helpful in the case of the destroyers (which is similar to the submarines) in that each squadron is assigned a tender and each squadron currently consists of 2-3 divisions. When I want to move destroyers forward to a forward base I can just move the squadron forward to the base and from there use operational task forces for operations. The administrative organization is also helpful for refits in that instead of trying to schedule each individual ship, since the divisions are set to contain the same class (when possible) the refits can be done by division.
I'm currently setting things up to start my new campaign with my new scenario and using the Notes column on the ships screen in Traker to identify the divisions so when I want to schedule refits I can locate the division and where the ships currently are located - in port or operationally in a Tast Force.
Here's two quick examples of what I'm talking about (both based on the US Navy organization prior to Pearl Harbor).
Battleships:
Battleships, Battle Force - RADM Walter S. Anderson, USN
Battleship Division 1 - RADM Isaac C. Kidd, USN
BB Arizona (Pennsylvania)
BB Nevada (Nevada)
BB Pensylvania (Pennsylvania)
Battleship Division 3 - RADM David W. Bagley, USN
BB California (Tennessee)
BB Oklahoma (Nevada)
BB Tennessee (Tenessee)
Battleship Division 5 - RADM Walter S. Anderson, USN
BB Colorado (Colorado)
BB Maryland (Colorado)
BB West Virginia (Colorado)
Destroyer example:
Destroyer Squadron 3 - RADM Milo F. Draemel, USN
AD Dixie (Dixie)
Destroyer Division 31 - RADM Milo F. Draemel, USN
DD Drayton (Mahan)
DD Flusser (Mahan)
DD Lamson (Mahan)
DD Mahan (Mahan)
Destroyer Division 33 -
DD Balch (Porter)
DD Phelps (Porter)
DD Porter (Porter)
DD Selfridge (Porter)
Destroyer Division 35 -
DD Case (Mahan)
DD Cassin (Mahan)
DD Conyngham (Mahan)
DD Cummings (Mahan)

Re: Next Generation Tracker: Staff Officer Companion
In NGT you can create task organization independent of AE’s in game chain of command and task forces. You can create and insert anywhere in the org chart a container, which can serve the administrative purpose you’ve described. In my game, I’ve organized my submarines into squadrons, each with a tender and multiple divisions consisting of six boats each. In NGT I can then assign the subs by division or individually to patrol zones. NGT also tracks the task forces and your org chart so it’s always clear where a naval asset is assigned both in the game and in NGT.

One more question. I'm setting NGT up to work with the game I just started. I only have the wpae003.pws file in my /Save folder which I am pointing to. Is NGT like Tracker in that I can keep saving to the same filename and just ingest it each turn (I'm running 2 day turns incidentally)?

Another question.
Where do I go to change the location of the war_diary.sqlite file from the C drive?
I thought that functionality was added but I don't see where to do it.

Yes. In Staff Director, there’s a run next turn button that will ingest the updated/new save. I haven’t tested it with two day turns so let me know how that works out.Dereck wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2026 2:15 pmAwesome.RedConkristador wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2026 1:47 pm In NGT you can create task organization independent of AE’s in game chain of command and task forces. I added a main menu option called Data Location. Should be able to do it from there.Dereck wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2026 2:20 pm Another question.

1. In the J1 Personel screen for Command & Leadership you have RAMD instead of RADM.
2. I'm trying to locate the Task Forces and their commanders but I can't find anything for them. Where do I look?

NGT 6.01 adds some new features:
Player can switch base color so that IJ players can keep their NGT color as red as it is in AE. Players can also opt to use Soviet military graphics instead of NATO. Operations can be stacked in specific theater area campaigns so it's clear the order in which you plan them. The campaigns will appear on your campaign plan timeline so you can see the temporal relation between your plans and milestones.
