Any chance to include Ardennes with Battles for Normandy?

Korsun Pocket is a the second game using the award winning SSG Decisive Battles game engine. Korsun Pocket recreates the desperate German attempt to escape encirclement on the Russian Front early in 1944. The battle is a tense and exciting struggle, with neither side having a decisive advantage, as the Russians struggle to form the pocket, then try to resist successive German rescue efforts and last ditch attempts at breakout.

Any chance to include Ardennes with Battles for Normandy?

Post by Les_the_Sarge_9_1 »

Korsun Pocket as a design is good, Korsun Pocket as a setting was just not my thing.

It's about the only reason I have not jumped in and bought it.

Currently, about the only attraction is it has the old Ardennes battle included with it. Kinda silly though to buy a game just for an included freebie (I want this version because it likes XP now).

Sooooooo question is, any chance of that freebie being stuck in with Battles for Normandy?

I am thinking of getting Battles for Normandy at any rate. But including Ardennes will sure make a difference for where the game is standing in the line eh :)

Why should I be the only one bothered by it eh.

Les, you do know that you can download the first release of The Ardennes Offensive (Win95, 98-and I was able to run it under ME-no XP, though) from Run 5's site?

http://run5.wargamer.com/

This is the best free wargame you will hope to find.

AND, since you get this one for free, now you can justify buying BIN to yerself!

Ooops, just saw your comment about it liking XP.

Like Gilda Radner used to say on Sat Night Live..."Never mind".

Would seem that BiN will include TAO4! Check out this thread for details:

Personally I don't think this is a silly plan at all. Myself, I really like the KP battleset but find myself drawn to TAO3 and some of the free scenarios even more! Expect that BiN will be every bit as good with more game options than you'll have time to play!

I wasnt really interested in the setting either but went ahead and bought it.

Ive never really played it as 1. Time involvd to learn adn 2. The actual setting really hinders me in giving over my time to it. However BoN I will buy also and it involves a setting I have a good background knowledge and interst in which with the aid of my imagination will drive me on to learn the game.

I have downloaded some extra scenarios for KP and will one day get stuck into the Gallipolli one.

Arhh yes, it would appear that this is a version of TAO(4)? Lurking somewhere with some BIN code attached to it doesnt it? :)
Isn't that bizarre?

Actually, TAO2 is a standard file I send out on my Ultra Steel Panthers cd. But it's the pre Matrix Games involvement version (which gives XP the finger rather consistently).

I just also got a 500 intel clunker off my buddy (sorry for those still using a 500 intel and calling it their main machine hehe). Got it so I could run 98 SE and not have to care about how I hate 98 SE. Basically it's the clunker eh, not my "real" computer hehe.

TOA2 is likely one of the files that will get put on the system. Only has a 1.9 gig drive though, so it is only getting Windows and invitation only wargames.

TAO2 is/was great Sarge but TAO3 (included in Korsun) is better and I hear from a good source [;)] that TAO4 is even better again. Did anyone mention pontoons...?

TAO2 got me into this series and to be honest every iteration I have seen so far is better than the last, with the future looking decidely that way as well... Play KP in an email game, it is great!, but after that try some of the others downloadable scenarios that we have made and have fun with them. And soon, Normandy will be upon us [8D]
