ok I tested at:954.2 kilobits per second so wouldn't a 300 meg file take just over 300 seconds.. isn't 1000 kbts =1 meg??? Thanks for helping

Actually that's not quite right. Bits and Bytes are different animals. Basically the transfer is whatever download rate you have in Bits, divide by 8. That should be your MAX Kilobyte/second download rate. The best kilobyte per second download rate you can expect with your connection of 954.2kilobit per second would be 119.3 kilobytes per second. Mighty powerful DSL connection by the way. [8D]

If we're still assuming a 500MB download for the game file then you'd be looking at just under 70 minutes at top speed the entire time. Again, that's assuming also you get 100% throughput from Matrix. That's still smoking for DSL Freeboy and you should have NO PROBLEM with the download amigo. [8D] Hope thats what you need.

Ya, you're right there subchaser. I've been using 500MB in my download example, but if there's slightly more, it'll take a bit longer for some of course. Still, it's safe to bet that the faster cable subscribers will see 30-40 mins to get it and that'll go upwards of 8-10hrs on dialup. Probably longer depending on network lag. Just have to see...

Thanks to all.. it was the speed in Byte conversion to that had me scratching my ass wonder how odd... and if they use a compression utilty that time would be shorter..
I remember someone, Joel I think talking about making the sound files smaller.. so it might not be 500 meg download.. we will see. happy first day of the Matrix
