Sometimes I get the feeling that posting on the forum is a game itself separate from actually playing WITP

I think it's work related. There are a lot of people who can browse the internet at work, so while at work they read/respond to this forum. But they can't be so brazen as to actually open the game on their work computer and start to play. So they play the game at night on their home computer but chat in the forums during the day while at "work."

To test this hypothesis look at when people post on the board and what time zone they live in. If I am correct they will be posting between 8 AM and 5 PM (their local time) and not looking at the boards 8 PM (after dinner) to midnight or so.

That's for those who want to generate a third hobby: studying the social habits of WITPers[:)]

Beta Tester Weighing In...

As I recall it, we were pretty much of two groups; those who opposed it, and those who it didn't bother.

We offered our opinions and left it to "it is what it is".

Consider this: Do you really want to give up nearly 3000 VPs to get back 6 new Essex Class? The math is 450 each ship broken down by 350-380 for the ship and about 90 for its airgroup.

Remember, if you've managed to not get your pre-war US CV's sunk, chances are you're playing pretty well.

The "re-spawning" system is what it is. My disagreement with it was taken care of with the Editor [:D]

Sometimes I get the feeling that posting on the forum is a game itself separate from actually playing WITP. Kind of a game within a game -- so to speak. It seems that some people get a bigger kick out of posting than playing. But, hey, whatever gets you through the night (or day).
Well, you can't play games when you're at work....[;)]

@Brausepaul, sorry I did not reply, I had to catch a plane. Now I am at a location (undisclosed?) from which I probably won't be able to reply. But the debate goes on it seems....(wasted breath, really, since this is not likely to change).

Awww Gawwwdddd....

This is one of the most nit-picky details to argue over...

Fact:

During WWII - the US lost Yorktown, Lexington, Hornet, and Wasp
I believe that during the war - the US built 17 Essex carriers ( someone check that fact for me )

FOUR of the Essex's were laid down with different names but renamed to Yorktown, Lexington, Hornet, Wasp

For instance - CV-10 was originaly named I believe Shangri-La but changed to Yorktown in honor of her sunken sister - and they just saved the name Shargri-La for a latter carrier

The engine for the game is such that if the US does not lose any of its original 6 carriers - then only 13 Essexes will be built - which is not historical - if they lose all their CV's - than 19 Essexes will be built - which is also not historical - but the swing either way of 1 or 2 carriers is NOT a major advantage one way or the other - with hordes of CVE's and CVL's - it just does not matter...

Maybe those carriers should just be built no matter what with only the hull numbers - but I don't think it matters....

Anyway - my 2cents..
