Land units Future Objective ??

Post by Buck Beach »

Many of my units showing up in San Francisco reflect Future Objective Planning points for various locations at 100. As I understand it they are fully combat or otherwise ready to receive the maximum benefit for that indicated location. Let's say a unit states a Future Objective as Townsville and is 100% and I decide to place it in Port Moresby without changing the Future Objective. What can I expect as far as performance from the unit and how can I notice any difference from the same unit having a 100% Port Moresby Objective? Do I dare ask for numbers or percentages for calculation purposes?

I also see that many units arriving in San Fran have 100 Future Objectives but no location shown. An example is the 1st USMC Division-INF. What impact does this have if I want to use them at Guadalcanal after resting them up in Noumea for a month without changing their objective (which is none)?

The objective is used to prepare them for things like assaults or beach landings, OR defense of a city or base. If your unit is defending Port Morseby and has as its objective Townsend then it wont be as good as a unit with Port Morseby as its objective.

For amphbious assaults the percent is used to adjust disruption taken in the landing also. The higher the number the less effect is felt landing.
Favoritism is alive and well here.

There is 3 benefits from prep value. All of them are gained when the unit is located at the base he has prep points for.
- training. If the prep value = 100 the LCU gains experience rather than prep points, up to a level of 75.
- less casualities when making an amphibious assault.
- better effectiveness in land combat.
Apart for not gaining these benefits, there is no ill effects of being located in another base.

For the units having prep points but no locations, I really don't know. I think it's a bug.
