what's next?

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

what's next?

Post by kafka »

Congratulations to Eric Babe and his team. Great news!

Though it might be somewhat premature to ask, I try and ask anyway. Now that COG has gone gold are there any plans as for what the next game in the series will be about? Will it keep to the historical era covered by COG? Is there a real chance of seeing this superb engine used for a title covering more modern times (WWI or WW2)? As COG was revealed to the public at a late state of development, is there any chance to involve an assumably growing community early in the making of the next game?

I asked Eric a few months ago about future titles and it seems that for the present they are staying close to the 19th century. They also might venture into Ancient Greece/Rome down the road.

I would really like to see a game covering the wars of Frederick the Great. Of course ACW and the Wars of German Unification would also be appreciated. If the AI can handle Napoleonics and Frederick, it should also be able to handle the Thirty Years War as well. The mind boggles at the potential conflicts that this engine could cover.

All great suggestions and I agree. We are all excited. [8D]

Well, worthwhile suggestions, indeed. I, too, think the engine could perfectly be adapted to any historical period. Now that War in Russia by 2by3 seems to be on hold, I am desperately looking for any alternative. It would be great if the next release would at least provide a more powerful modding interface so you are able to mod maps and all the necessary stuff to model any kind of scenario.

I'll second that...1776 would be my next choice[8D].
