A-26
Marstom Mat

Starmann Field, Markin Is. Marston Mat
Hawkins Field, Betio Is. Marston Mat
Taclobon Airstrip, Leyte. Marston Mat

I'm sure there were many more through out the Pacific Theater, these stated they were of steel mesh construction.

Generally from what I've read, most U.S. air fields in the Pacific Theater USAAF & USMC that were of crushed & compacted coral construction had marston mat as a base

A-26, it is[:)]

It is, Indochina.

..........

March 24 1954 Near Hanoi Indochina. French AirCrew. The Matting, I have no Idea whose it was could of been Japanese left over from WW2, but most likely from American stocks I should think. I know the Japanese had their own steal matting but I am not shure of the service entry date for it, I do know it was used in the Solomons campagine howeaver for some of their strips.

Brady

It's a marston mat. Thats for sure.[;)]

Almost everything the French were using until their defeat was of U.S. WWII surplus. There was almost an endless supply just left in the South Pacific Islands.

Never got to Hanoi, close, but not to close.[:D]
