Another XP Problem

Post by ramalmgrem »

I Have a Sony Vaio Laptop 900mz/128mb RAM. that ran SPWAW just fine until I installed 7.0 with Lost Victories. Now when playing the WWII Campaign between turn 5 and 9 the game decides I'm playing online and tries to synchronize all players. I now save each turn and when it happens I go back and pick up from the saved game. It doesn't seem to do it after I go back and pick up from the save. The pain is having to do the turn over. Any ideas? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

There is a bug in Lost Victories I'm sending you a beta patch to fix the problem so you can continue to enjoy the game. Extract all 3 files in to the main MatrixGames/SPWAW directory, when it ask if you want to overwrite existing files select yes. Good luck

Thanks for the patch and your promptness, I'll let you know how it works once I reinstall 7.0 and the patch.
(I rolled back to 6.1 so I could play)
Much gratitude....May Mars smile upon all your battles and Atheana whisper in your generals ears.

7.1 with xp, GeForce2 ultra w/ latest drivers, IntelP3 on 820 mobo 256 megs RD ram. -

> graphics glithches ie. screen goes black on and off while playing solitare (campain gen) then the game quits to window. (but the sync prob seems fixed! lol).

All other directX and OpenGl games work fine.

Oh well, looks like it's back to 6.1 for me...which runs w/o a hitch.

Try something for me, make sure command and control is off in your preference screen. They're are none issues with only the MegaCampaigns and Command and Control being on in OS's higher than Win 98SE (enomolies, crashes, the unexplained) unfortunately there is no other work around except to turn it off. Also don't rule out DirectX, if I'm not mistaken XP install 8.1a which is none to be very buggy even within the Microsoft community. P.S. what type of soundcard are you running, if soundblaster live see similar posts in this forum for possible workaround that a fellow gamer was able to achieve positive results.

I'd appreciate receiving the patch. I have the same problem as Powderfinger: WaW runs fine except for "Lost Victories," which sees the screen black out and then kicks me back to the desktop--running WinXP.
Thanks.

Jambo69, The final release of patch 7.1 is due out any day. Hopefully Thursday, its better if you can wait for it. If it gets delayed for some reason I'll be more than happy to send beta 7.1 to hold you over.
