RE: Stuff for the first patch as of now
I'm not sure if this is a feature or not, but I've never seen it in WITP so Im not sure if it was an addition to WPO.
I had a Japanese Bombardment taskforce bombarding Manilla from the north. On the way by Bataan the CD guns fired at the taskforce! Then on the way back, they fired again! I had not seen that before, is that supposed to happen? Why would the taskforce be that close to the shore to begin with? And then after getting shot at the first time, why risk it a second?
I'm not complaining, just wondering if this is supposed to happen.

It is supposed to work that way, as realistically to be in range of Manila Bay you are in range of Bataan. It's in both manuals, though not sure what part at this very moment. It is in WitP too.

British LCU stuff
OK, since everyone is intent on abusing the ready LCUs [;)]
All Indian Formations are now delayed (still arrive within 7 months)
For the whole of India, Malaya, and Siam, total forces are 6 understrength Bdes and 1 understrength Division, not counting small arty units and such. And they are fairly spread out. So you can reinforce the PI if you want, but uou will leave the entire British SE Asia area wide open. This should stop any gamey use of these formations (you still get them, and they can still protect India (it would be a prolonged land battle anyway), but using them in the PI would be...how can one say.... stupid.

I would suggest the same standard be applied to the Japanese 19th and 20th Divisions which were formed to garrison Korea. Korean armed resistance also was very active in the early 20s ... and having these divisions absent would invite the "Independence Army" to start taking over. In the game I suppose this can be represented by some Chinese Corps coming across the Korean border and "making hay". In my first practice against the AI, a few Chinese Corps have managed to clear the entire Korean peninsula quickly, due to the absence of the 2 Japanese divisions - which are apparently slated for the P.I. invasion - in the game. Perhaps other divisions in the Home Islands, could be substituted.

Hi,
I would suggest analyze the game code. Compared to WitP need WPO more memory and is more available to fall down becouse lack of memory. I'm playing both, both without sounds and videos and both on windowed mode. With WitP I can have open windows commander, two or three IE windows, some world document ... with WPO is problem to have open windows commander and one IE window ... if more, the game is without map or some bmp pictures and sollution is close all other programs only ...

Totally agree with this. WPO seems to be quite the system hog. I have actually had it crash on me twice. Both times shortly after alt-tabbing out of the program. It took forever to get out, and then when I came back I shortly got booted. After restarting the game, it crashed on me again about 10 minutes later.
I rebooted and havent had the problem again. I havent alt-tabbed of course.
RE: Stuff for the first patch as of now
Just out of curiosity, what are your system specs, and have you installed directx 9.0c? Reason I ask is I (nor anyone of the betas to my knowledge) have not had this problem. I alt tab out of it all the time getting screenshots, and have yet to have a crash.

Do me a favor. Rename your sound to NOSOUND, then alt tab and tell me if it still crashes. Trying to find the cause, because your system is almost identical to mine, the main difference being the sound card. (You have a better video card, I have a 5200, and my processor is a 2600).

Sigh...
I knew I couldnt duplicate it but I tried. I was unable to get a crash. I even messed around awhile after al-tabbing, came back and everything worked fine. If it happens again, I will pay more attention.
I do remember that my HD started chugging along when it happened. Accessing lots of files.
Who knows...

When a crash is actually occuring, many times the system is writing out a dump file - which can take a while - perhaps that is what all the HD chugging was about.

Guys
I had problems with my HD chugging along and then the computer shut down. Sent an error message to MS and got a message saying it was a device driver problem. Just found out the latest NVidia graphics driver I loaded was not whql(?) passed. There has been a new driver posted at Nvidia recently which is - I am hoping that was the problem.

Is it possible to change map icon of TF Escort mission ? Now it is looking like transport or cargo transport (like in WitP). I will prefere look like surface combat ... It is probably hardcoded somewhere at code ...
Thx

Windowed mode in both witp and wpo is something of an "undocumented" feature in otherwords can do it but the modes aren't quite supported in a sense.
I tried windowed but with either I had video problems which points to perhaps that using windowed mode can depend on ones video card mine being only a 32mb all in wonder radeon 7200 based.
If you have no problem with WITP but with WPO, it is strange in that the sense I have is WPO runs alot faster and takes less RAM then WITP which has so much more "air" units and its searchs, attacks etc..
Anyway, with neither witp nor wpo, is windowed a really supported as in something they coded for thing, its there but its undependable is my take cause the game code is probably intended for game to run in full screen..
Noise? What Noise? It's sooooo quiet and Peaceful!
