victory screen

Post by WanderingHead »

It is not as straightforward to save the game after the victory screen pops up (to send back to the victor) as it could or should be.

When it pops up, you have two options, go to the map or close the victory screen. Closing the screen gives you no opportunity to save the file. If you are the loser (the person who now sees this screen first) then I think you should be prompted to save the game. Particularly because closing the window is the intuitive thing to do, and if it is not saved you will lose all of your last gasp efforts from your WA turn.

The only way to save the game is to go to the map and save from there.

It'd be nice to see this improved.

IMO the game is much improved by the change to evaluate AV at the end of WA turn, but the one good (but ultimately irrelevent) thing about the old way was that the victor actually had a motivation to send the save.

Good point. Once the victory condition was changed the victor sending the save has become obsolete. Perhaps it should be updated but I doubt the developement effort would be undertaken. 2by3 is now working on a Civil War game I believe. I can think of one other case in which the new victory conditions have made an old rule obsolete, yet the obsolete rule still remains in the game. This is/was the addition, in a patch, of a 5 supply free to curb the neutral land grab by Germany. After they came up with a better way in patch 1.070 to curb the neutral land grad the old solution is no longer needed. Yet it still sticks around. Now that Germany has to take certain victory cities why have both solutions? I say remove the extra 15 supply Germany was given to offset the cost of paying for a DW and no longer charge them as was originally designed.
