Every time I think something will be simple it goes to hell quickly. I have been a member fo ages. So I log in to the members area to download this new patch. I can't find it anywhere. It's no wonder it takes so long to correct bugs when they have to be as nerdy as posible just to create a site to download patches from. It makes you want to grab them by the shirt collars and shake them into reality

look where is says spwaw general edition over to the right..."downloads"

Just for S & G's ......down loaded lates beta Mod. Directed the install to my ver 8.4 (plain jane), it installed and indicated my ver now 8.403, now you would think I'd be tickled pink and I am. The strange thing is that my ver 8.3 (Mod) also is now indicated as ver 8.403. Checking the folders showed only one was effected by change "installed Mods", 8.3 still working fine and I'm not looking for a revision.
As a matter of note the H2Hfr (7.1) was not affected. Oh well alls well that ends well. FWIW DEPARTMENT

I had this exact same problem. I was unable to play online against another player using 8.3 because the version label was 8.403

With help from steeliiibart I managed to edit the registry.
Start
Run
regedit
expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
expand Software
expand Matrix Games
open Steel Panthers World at War

Now you edit the line Version from "v8.403" to "v8.3"

I am not sure if this will prevent you from playing 8.403 online but it is a simple matter to edit the version back again.

Mjr D: Tanks for the revision, I'll have to try that, if I haven't screw things up by over installing the latest mod by hand vice the Mod swapper. H*ll it's playing good against the AI, so I'll just keep plugging away. I plan on dropping the 8.3 version off anyhow.. Much grass guy.

Oh, Oh, just heard two rifle shots in the local neighborhood, NO JOKE, maybe I should record them for game use. Oh well nothing new around here, must be fiesta time somewhere nearby.

Tanks agin Mjr D.

I understand that infantry riding on vehicles will take casualties if the vehicle is hit by fire.
Does this apply to halftracks or APC's?

What classes of vehicle (if any) does the code permit protection for infantry riding on vehicles.

I think apcs/halftracks provide protection.
vehicles classed as scout vehicles are one that do not, but I could be wrong. [&:]
Tanks I would think do not as well.

Any non-APC or non-halftrack classed unit is affected by the passenger damage routine. However, I have only seen it occur from tank main gun rounds; I have shot at numerous tanks carrying infantry (who are assumed to be on the outside) with machiegun fire, only to see the undamaged squad bail off. But if hit with a main gun round, the squad bails off WITH casualties. [&:]

It should be noted that any halftrack classified 'recon halftrack' has an issue (an example would be the US M3 Recon halftrack). If hit by any fire at all, even rifles or MG's, the passengers bail, but are not harmed. They do not stay in the vehicle like they would in a unit classified 'halftrack'. Mike has been informed of this.

Flash- that is definately something Mike needs to check!

My post is now edited to be correct.

No one else has this? I installed a downloaded version of the new 8.403, not our test version, Alby. Did you? It would be damned odd if I am the only one not getting the willies...[:)]

Hi Guys,

I've tried to download the Beta from the members area, but it doesnt work, either says timed out or page not available.

Is it me or is the link not working?

By the way, I have the same problem with the pdf file below it as well.

Any suggestion?

On your end, firewall?, anti virus settings?, do you have admin rights?
