Where those the ones they did with Atomic Games? There was a D-day, Crusader and Stalingrad?

Several have mentioned War in Russia, and others have mentioned Avalon Hill games.
Not long before Avalon Hill gave up the ghost, they worked on some computer games - poor guys knew they had to keep up with the PC-generated revolution in gaming, but they didn't and I believe that drove them out of business.
One of AH's last gasp efforts (about nine years ago) was a computerized game dealing with Stalingrad. It was similar to WitP in that both sides entered orders and then the turn ran. It was a pretty good game. I had it, but can't find it now. Perhaps my wife threw it away. Anybody remember it?

Yes, that was it. I remember the first time I played it, how surprised I was at the number of "counters" there were for German allies like Romania, Italy, etc. I had always thought Stalingrad was a disaster only involving German troops.

I played that "Stalingrad" too. I played the heck out of it, in fact. It was a good game. So was Operation Crusader for that matter. I think I was a beta-tester on one of those games; don't remember which. I was also a beta-tester on "Third Reich PC," which wasn't their best effort, but still worth playing IMHO.

I was a 3R Beta too. So much possibility and then resources dried up...
If I was filthy rich I would buy rights to 3Rpc and try again.

Let's see, what other old rumours could we resurrect?
How about War In the Med? [:'(]
Hi Bradfordkay,
I just e-mailed someone who emailed someone else who's in the know and has good connections. My buddy gave me the scoop and, man you are so gunna like it!

After Avalon Hill came out with Victory In The Pacific, didn't they come out with War At Sea using the same game mechanics, covering the Atlantic and Med?
Victory in the Pacific, War at Sea and the med variant is called War at Sea Deux but produced by a different company.
Those games had too many bugs in them - or was that termites![:D] Actually I still have AH Victory in the Pacific. I played that game until the ink wore off the counters.
Anyway, does anyone remember a PC turn based game called HIGH COMMAND? It covered the war in Europe and I think it was by a company called......360? I thought it was pretty good and remembered wishing there was something similar for the Pacific Theater. Many years later I found WITP - HEAVEN!!!

I still have "Wacht am Rhein" by SPI. Still my favorite land combat game (non-computer). Played that one some many times I can almost recite the whole German OOB.
Best Naval board game for me, at least, was Sixth Fleet by VG.
Put 2 American CV in a TF together and the Russians were toast. [:D]

They need to come out with a remake of Secrets of the Lueftwafe - now that was a fun game!

Other way around. AH came up w/ the Atlantic game before the Pacific game. Don't remember who came up w/ the idea to link them (w/ new areas, new ships and rule changes) but I think it was later standardized and sold.
Edited for aesthetic purposes.
I remember the Med add on was introduced as a "cut out" in the General magazine and you had to mount the naval pieces on your own counters.
Came with one man Italian subs, etc.

I have Wacht am Rhein upstairs in the loft--it was republished. We used the 6th Fleet series to generate test scenarios for modern naval command and control systems.

Yeah , some of us in my squadron would "re-game" exercises and problems with the fleet series , then latter with "Harpoon" when that game out.
