I seem to have hit something in the scene editor that has reset the cursor position and where gravity places the objects. Everything is being placed somewhere under the map. Any way to get it back in line? I just painstakingly placed all my houses and objects, but now I have some things somewhere unknown.
Are some of you actually painting the AI map in the scene editor? If so, how?

Good point about top-down view. I also forgot to mention using the 4 and 6 keys on the number pad to rotation the building around.
As was said, it seems good to have the red close to the building so infantry can hide behind a building in case the building has "no vacancies". Sometimes, I will hide a squad behind a building so it is positioned to jump in if a squad in the building gets destroyed.

I assume you you've selcted the culprit objects and pressed "G" to ground them?
If that doesnt work, perhaps you can find the objects in the left window (If you select them in the window, they'll be highlighted in the left window.. Expand that item and then highligth POSITION. and right click. You can directly edit the X,Y, and X coordinates, as well as rotate the buidling. Not sure if that will help .

Thanks, Rick-I had been using the "g" key, but something seems to go haywire at some point, and the cursor remains unable to get close to the object (although it is moving it), and won't place it at the correct gravity position.
I redid the model placement, and I'm nearly ready to test it in game:

And with better texturing below the models:

Ben,

And so quickly!
Will look even better with Biffa brushes!
New textures are coming as well, in the next few days I will show you how you can add your own.
Looking forward to playing on this map

I'll put it up soon. First test reveals one problem-infantry not entering buildings. I coded these areas as "red". I'll go back and recheck the brush color coordinates, but could it be any issue other than that I may have missed?

WHen you place your buildings, did you double check to make sure the properties show buidling type and capacity. (right click on the name for the properties).

The only other reason I know of that might cause the troops to fail to enter is an example where the red area surrounded a building but the center under the building was not painted red. In that case, I could place the infantry during the deploy phase and they would appear to be in the building but were really not. They were in the space but not inside the building. They were also encased by impassible red and could not leave the building. I doubt this is what is happening here. And the map I saw this on was from Winter Storm.
Good luck. It is really fun reading about the beta tester's adventures and Stridor's efforts to keep things moving.

Rick has the probable answer. I went through all the buildings and houses before release and found a few that didn't allow mounting. They were without the squadcount property.

'
Meaning the terrain map? Like this:
After you open a Scene file, you can also open the terrain map within the Scen Editor to work on it while still seeing the 3D terrain. This make editing the terrain map MUCH easier than doing it in a separate program and hoping it all matches up.
1. Click on the "Map.bmp" menu. Choose Open.
2. Navigate to the Media/Level folder for the level you are working on, choose the map.bmp file there
3. You will now see the terrain map overlaid on the 3D map in the scene editor.
4. Click on the Common Palette sub-menu under Map.bmp to choose the color you want to add to the terrain map (see the color key in the addendum)
5. Choose the Size sub-menu to set the size of the "brush"
6. Hold down the Alt key and move the mouse to "paint" the new terrain color.

Not sure where to ask for this. Not sure it can be easily added. Not sure about alot of things other than I would really, REALLY like to see this.
Is there any possible way that there could be a grid display that is able to be toggled on and off in the game?
I don't know if the map editor would add that or not. I don't want a map grid "most" of the time. But when I do want it I need it badly. Would this be done during map generation or only during map display during game play or what?
Where do I need to put this request to get the right people involved in making this happen. A map grid that would be allowed to be toggled on and off would be a tremendous help during game play.
Good Hunting.

MR,
That is something which you would need to talk to Kevin + Erik about.
The engine already support grid overlays (wireframe display) as it does so in scenedit which uses that same code as the main game, so I don't imagine your request would be that difficult to implement on a toggle key, but only Erik + Kevin would know for sure.

Just a heads up to let you know that version 0.3c of the MM is now out and it can be found with the changelog at the very start of this thread (post #1)

I've been using RocketMan's gridded grass mod, but this could also be done in-game. I'll discuss with Kevin and see what's possible.

Sorry
I just realized I missed one support file in the latest update.
If you redownload the update you will find the file is now available and the problem should be fixed.
Sorry again for the trouble.

Thanks for the fix. Back in business.
I'm going to do some more clean up on the previous map, but I'm testing how much I can throw onto a map and still have a decent frame rate.

That looks great, a nice bit of atmosphere you got going on there.
