I would hate to rush you guys, but the clock is ticking and so am I. I realize that overe there in matrixgames land the day is still young, but here where i live, its getting dark and i'm wondering if i will have the chance to buy the game today.
Any news on the digital release?

Hmm yes, worst case scenario would suggest that this is something we could expect when the release before weekend wasn't possible.
I got my plastic ready [&o]

Erik, please make your download available by 0600 Pacific Time on Wednesday. That way I can start the download at home in the morning before leaving for work, and play it after dinner.

Im hoping they do it a lot sooner than that and then you would also be able to download it when you planned.
The lack of information here is disturbing tho. Matrix does not seem to be on top of the sales thing here. No pre-order for the game on its product page, no information when the user can expect it. Its like as if they would not want it to sell.
There are people literally banging on the door of the virtual store so they can buy the game, and theres nothing but silence. As if the shop clerk would be hiding behind the counter to avoid the angry mob. Thing is.. theres no angry mob here, no need to be afraid, you can come out now. We merely want to buy the game.
Throw us a bone please.

Maybe there is no reply because they are busy getting the download ready.
Then again maybe not. Sure would appreciate it coming out soon since the evening is still young in Europe. Rapidly growing older, though.

The first thing I did this morning was check on the release. I'm expecting an answer any time now on that. We are poised to release as soon as I get that answer.

I'm not sure I get this. An answer from whom? You are the publisher, aren't you? It's up to you when to release it, isn't it?

Yeah thats what I thought as well, but it looks like gamestop is the publisher, or at the least the decision maker. Which is silly to say the least, as was stated by Csebal, it looks like Matrixgames aren't that interested in selling it to us potential customers here, only to those in gamestop

bob said something about digital download having to wait until the retail boxes hit the store.
and gamestop apparently decided not to wait for even that.

As I said, we are the publisher, but we want to make sure we do not burn any bridges with our release decision. Personally, I feel we should release this now and as far as I am concerned, there should be no further concern about pre-empting retail now that it's been showing up in stores across the country. Nevertheless, we need to confirm that releasing today (instead of the agreed date tomorrow) will not cause any issues with our retail partners. We are _very_ interested in getting this up for sale to our customers ASAP.

Lol, so after Gamestop decided to pull a fast one on you and release four(!) days early, you have to go and beg them for being allowed to release as well? I hope I misunderstood this, else you might want to reconsider the way you do business.
Edit: Crosspost... evidently I did not misunderstand. That is unfortunate.
Edit2: Note that I am not making fun of you, I just think it's a sad state of affairs.

Sti,
You're spinning this to make it as negative as possible. The agreement was always that there be broad retail availability before the online release was made available, with the 24th being the date on which this would happen. I feel the requirement of "broad retail availability" has been met, but we are waiting for concurrence from our retail partner. It's a matter of civility between business partners and ensuring that everyone is in agreement rather than going with our own assumption. We want this release to go live in our store today, with any luck that will happen.
Regards,
- Erik
