I'm going to wait on Diablo III myself. Now there's a series with longevity.

What if they make it First Person?

Argh bite your fingers! I dunno though it might be interesting to play Diablo in 3rd person as long as the loot is still like the others. That's what made the Diablo series fun for me all the different loot combos and stats and values. You just can't know the excitement of getting Jordan rings for the first time. Items that add power levels to your skills. It would be interesting to see my necromancer and 30+ minions and Fire Golem in 3D though.

You noticed the price of new games is climbing up? This one is $60 and the CE is like $100. BftB $80, Elemental:War of Magic $60 and the CE $80, where does it stop? Have the $30-$40 games gone by the way of the doodo bird?

That's the CE of Elemental, surely? The pre-order of the bog-standard DD version only cost me £31.44 (UKP), and that's more like $40, not $60.

In general, I wouldn't worry too much. Unless a game is for a very niche audience (BftB, WitE, WiF etc) or a 'must-buy' for millions (SC", or anything 'The Sims') prices can't go up much if publishers want the games to sell at all, competition is fierce.

$50 for the regular boxed game and then S&H which is regularly $10. The CE version isn't $100 as someone on another site stated, but, it is $80 as it's $70 boxed and then of course the usual $10 S&H. I myself when calculating costs of games do include the S&H. Now of course the direct download saves the S&H but I prefer a box and hard copy manual etc with my game orders.

As for SC2 collectors edition I was right it's over $100 http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/ ... dition=new

Some people dont realize they are getting screwed over,....

And some people don't realize they are not getting screwed over - but wail anyway.

Blizzard releases a game as long as the original, with a full campaign (as longeve as the original one) and full MP = "Tey aer screwing us!!!!1111" (*)

Bioware releases a RPG (Mass Effect) *explicitly* divided into three chapters, with the first two ending with a cliffhanger = "They are following the classic 'trilogy structure' found in many Fantasy and Sci-Fi sagas!! This cliffhanger really had me on the edge!! Can't wait for the next installment!!"

Reality has no obligations to bend to perceptions - no matter what some philosophers try to teach you.

(*) The irony being how these wails usually fail to wail about the real shortcomings of SC2: No LAN, "Real-ID" etc.

Starcraft was pirated rampantly by LAN cafes. Now they want to make sure of having one legit copy per PC.

...That being only the 'nth example of "legit customers being shafted thanks to pirates"...

Let me quote a post I made as a joke on page 1 of this thread...........................

I cant believe people are not only acepting what Activizzard is doing, but some actually seem to think nothing of it.

Well, Matrix,....just remember,....its now ok to release a wargame with only one side playable,.....then make the other side playable with a whole new game sold for full price.... you can now sale WW2 games in 5 different installments,...one for each major country in the war..............

Just imagine the profits if in order to play as Japanese or USA your customers would have to buy two copies WitP:AE......................

Battlefield Academy just released,.........and the axis side is not playable in the single player game (its said you can mod the game to play as the germans in single player)....................hmmmmmmmm

I THOUGHT I was just joking in my earlier post,........................

Seems all the game companies are changing the way they operate but one item they have't changed is THEIR want and need of our money.[:-]

There is definitely something wrong when a user with only 2 posts is allowed to post multiple urls in their greeting messages or signature.

Now, back on topic.  I wasn't going to get SC II, but I did end up borrowing it from a friend the other night.  Finished it in 24 hours, (so did he).  It was OK.  I liked the small attempt at a little bit of an ADVENTURE GAME in between missions where you could interact with other characters and elements.

Unfortunately, I don't fee there's any replay value in it for me.  Now, something like TOAW would take thousands of hours to finish all the maps, and then you'd still have tones of replay, even without battle.net.

Have you played Broodwars head to head yet? Until you do you've never even had sex. [:'(]
