Miller: the divisions on the Dnepr in the AGS area are located in swamps, and will have to be attacked across a major river. If there's a point where AGS's advance will be stopped, that will be it unless he gets really lucky. If there would be divisions in level 1 or 2 forts there, he can forget about crossing.

End of August 41 turn (turn 11) and I finally had an attack which was successful

Before I post that lets look at the losses, they are still ok, but after you see what happened down south where his armor is, you will see that they will go up next turn

Here is the Leningrad turn showing my attack, I couldn't help it, he stuck that infantry division in that noose so I attacked.

With all those swamp area's its going to be a very tough fight to get across. Keeping your cav back as a fire brigade?

I hope you don't mind a comment on your Kharkov defenses. I can't tell from the SS whether the double stacks contain HQs or not, but generally when you are "checkerboarding" you don't need units stacked a a single unit's ZOC is a good as two, if you did have single unit stacks you would have enough units to be digging a reserve defence line further East.

Please always feel free to comment BigAnorak, it is how i learn. I guess as an old board gamer and also an HPS player stacking units just kind of got into my DNA, going to take time to break that habit. Will start trying to use single units and use excess to dig in. I think part of it may be HQ range also as I tend to put my HQ's to close to the front instead of keeping them 5 hexes back and spreading units out behind them to dig. Learning is such fun[>:]

Just two cents from the cheap seats, but along with going with single unit stacks, I would look to get my cav out of the front lines and put them on digging duty if nothing else. Infantry units are a dime a dozen, but cav divisions are the first units that you can form into corps and the timing on forming them is good since it is Dec 1; just in time for the winter offensive.
Interesting game and I have been watching it.
