Turn 28

Merry Christmas and the AI did not disappoint. Many attacks up and down the line. Several holes made that needed adjustments to the lines. Its strange though, I expected a need for whole sale westward withdraw to preserve my forces. I suppose that may still happen.

Oh, and my gift to the AI? The Finns counter attacked. Their good!

Turn 29

Happy New Year! Its 1942. The SU winter offensive is underway. As this is my first winter I do not have a yard stick with which to compare but I think I am doing OK.

I made a mistake lower centre, I gave up a position too soon. That was suppose to happen a turn or two from now. Oh well.

Of note, German has now suffer 1 million manpower loses and SU 4 million.

Turn 30

I took a break to review my strategy. Been going at it for some time. We are in the full grip of winter and the elements are reducing my manpower at an alarming rate: 150k+ per turn. I said from the beginning that my goal is to destroy the SU war machine. Obviously that includes removing factories and manpower centres but that will come naturally as front lines are penetrated and defences disappear. The bottom line, I am not married to captured territory.

I will withdraw in good order where ever possible. I will maintain a continuous front where ever possible and I will conserve the armour for very limited counter attacks. I will sacrifice as little as possible.

AGC will have to begin a full withdrawal now. Too many threats to contain locally. AGN will rework their lines to maintain communication with AGC. AGS will be less flexible. The Dnepr will be the last defence. The armour will be committed here for any penetrations of this line.

Turn 31

A general retreat continues. There was one counterattack. Looks like I may loose 1 or 2 divisions completely. I'll try to avoid it but...

Turn 32

AGN is looking good. The north flank of AGC is looking better as it withdraws into the hills. The southern flank is reasonable. Its the centre that is weak. I still have 4 very fresh panzer corps that have yet to be committed for AGC. I am trying to avoid that I suspect they will be busy soon. AGS is still withdrawing but German reinforcements are arriving to shore up the southern most flank.
