Army 1972-1975, Security Agency, Germany.
Didn't start playing computer games till 1994, Dune II, Galactic Reunion and Outpost.
Before that Tactics and Strategy Board games by Avalon Hill. Blitzkrieg, Luftwaffe, Bismarck, D-Day, War in the Pacific, Midway, even Freedom in the Galaxy: The Star Rebellions 5764AD, etc.. I still have most of them too.

Im pretty sure there are ladies out there like strategy games, maybe too shy to come out to express themselves. Like you said, could be too many trekkies here.

I always had a hard time finding other players. So it's still in good shape for being bought back in the mid '80s. So I had to wait till my oldest child could understand the rules.
