Air Warfare
I put some Zero in LRCAP to cover a transport TF and they made a good job, 3 P-39D Airacobra shot down for one Zero.

Naval Warfare
Now I made a very stupid mistake...I thought that when you set a bombardment mission it automatically choice the best distance before attack, therefore if the target is 10 hex away it moves a couple of hexes and then wait the next turn to attack in the night...
My TF moved 9 hexes and now I am adjacent to PM, totally spotted [:(]

The Tanaka's TF circumnavigated New Guinea to attack PM behind his recon area, all is going good until last turn.
Surely I will do the mission anyway but he can move out the aircrafts...[8|]

I just had this same problem. I learned that I should have set the speed to Full instead of Mission because I used a waypoint. I was 5 hexes due east of Milne Bay and wanted to see if maybe the enemy SCTF (which was just hit by Bettys the day before and -1 CA [:D]) was on patrol in the hex SW of Milne, so I set a waypoint there first. Apparently the game engine will use cruise speed (which was 4 hexes) to the waypoints and only then look at the destination. I thought that since the bombardment destination was 7 hexes away (including the waypoint), that the TF would move at full speed.

To make matters worse, Shikinami rammed the Tone and caused 13 major Flt/6 major Eng. If I hadn't spent PPs on that commander, I'd have his head. I still might! If he hadn't decreased the speed of my TF by 1 hex for both Full and Cruising speeds, I could've bombarded Moresby and Milne (with another TF) undetected that turn. I wasn't willing to do Moresby without Tone, so Milne x2 it was.

May your Moresby bombardment be as successful as my Milne Bay ones ;).

Eh eh, another lesson learned, never use full speed but emergency!

Air Warfare
Few aircrafts take off from PM and my Zeros outnumber his CAP, 8 enemy fighters shot down for no losses back.

Naval Warfare
Frank said me that it was almost impossible to see an enemy bombardment TF close to PM therefore he thought was a mistake, never overstimate your opponent [:D]
I have been lucky, stop.

Btw, I found his CVs again.

General
Finally I got the last 2nd Division reinforcements, now I can start to plan an offensive operation.

Air Warfare

In the previous report I noticed this phrase:
Allied Torpedo Bomber sighted over Rabaul
Impossible but enemy CVs unspotted around Rabaul, it would be a very risky operation, and it was [X(]

Surely my opponent is trying to cacth my bombardment TF but instead he found several small ships moving supply and fuel around the map.
His CVs sunk 5 xAKLs, 7 SC and 1 TK, nothing valuable at least (each one was worth only 1 or 2 points).
In the afternoon my Bettys lauched an attack but they missed the CVs, a BB has been hit twice instead.

Allied Ships
BB North Carolina, Torpedo hits 2, on fire
CV Enterprise
CA Australia
CV Saratoga

That's a pity but I managed to shot down 9 F4F-4 Wildcats, 18 SBD-3 Dauntless and 3 TBF-1 Avenger for 12 Zeros and 2 Bettys.
I would claim a small tactical victory given that BB North Carolina surely is still afloating but every CV aircraft shot down is good for the future CV encounter. My losses are easily replaceable.

Did he happen to suffer an uncoordinated strike from his CVs? If he's combined Enterprise and Saratoga into one TF, then he's going to suffer uncoordinated strikes more often for being over the 100 + random(100) limit for the Allies in 1942...

Yes, I was able to catch an ecorted TBs raid and shot down few of them but I think he put his CVs in different TF but in the same hex.

My impression was that if both CVs show up in the combat report for a strike against them (when you hit North Carolina above), then they were in the same TF. I guess I could be wrong...

I think you are right, maybe my recon was wrong about the splitted TFs.

Quiet turn, his CVs are in the middle of the Solomon Sea.
