You don't need to copy it, you can open it directly from the Drop Box. Occasionally you will get an exception all you do is shut it down and open it again.

(I had to open the turn twice. I was done, wanted to send a message to Japan, and the system ran out of memory. Nothing but a ping on each mouse click. I tried "everything")
The Soviet Union is aware of events and postures that are not reassuring. We are working to make the Soviet military forces strong enough to meet the possible conflicts.

Your system ran out of memory? Or was ATG that ran out of memory?
I tried as best I could to get GD 1938, to not have memory problems, but if it still has them, I´d like to know...

My system was low on memory, everything was slow, and I should have known better than to start the turn without a reboot, but I did, and paid the price.
I suspect ATG was starved for memory. I opened Task Manager, shut down all unnecessary processes, including the Dropbox agent, but the memory was not recovered for ATG's use. When I got a nonresponsive message I had a details box, which I examined, but it did not seem to have any big news. I probably will not be as foolish as to play in this situation again, but I will save all diagnostics if it does happen again.
This was a "make and mend" turn, no combat or excitement at all.

The 4th Japanese fleet is reduced to 2 destroyers the 2nd has 2 damaged capital ships with 3 Minor vessels. This is the first wave of Chinese Naval Bombers the second wave was just as deadly.
One more Chinese city was captured only two now remain in Japanese hands.
The Japanese fleets had to be stopped the shore bombardments were deadly.

The Soviet Union made some minor border adjustments in the Far East to address the situation there. These included occupying the resource center at Mukden. There were some small battles with stubborn Japanese troops, but very little blood was shed. Since we do not really wish to become embroiled in war there we have offered peace to Japan.
The Politburo wishes to make clear to all parties that this minor intervention does not indicate a greater interest in the Far East. We will gladly enjoy peaceful terms with all.

The Luftwaffe continues fighter sweeps over England with limited success. The RAF is fighting back very hard. The Kreigsmarine sends 3 Royal Navy subs to the bottom of the south coast of England. German intelligence notes with alarm huge build-ups of troops and artillery on the Soviet side of the border.
The Italian air force attacks Malta and Italian submarines spar with the Royal Navy near the Suez canal.

A question came up regarding victory conditions in this mod.
The card choice in the beginning of play will give each player a choice for each nation they play. These can be very precise, and reasonably obtainable, or very long range, and very difficult to obtain. Sometimes a player or players will make some move based upon a possible enemy victory condition that they fear might be close to fulfillment. No one should know what a player has chosen, but that player. Sometimes a player will choose to reveal a VC to assure an ally. This is unusual. The secrecy allows for players making moves towards a VC that is not their actual VC to throw other players off. Sometimes a player will alert another player of a VC that seems dangerously close to completion by a third player, but that the first player cannot protect against.
Some players choose the very long range VCs that extend to 1944. No game I know of has gone that long. Some players set their own goals that do not result in a game victory, but satisfy their own sense of a "historical" victory.

Actually, cpdeyoung was just helping with a question I had asked as I wasn't sure how the VC's worked in this mod (I'm very much still a newbie). I thought he gave an excellent answer, and I know he was not trying to be controversial.

If no game that you know of has ever gone past 1944, then I also suggest that this is not a real simulation of WW2 at all but merely an ego contest with those with the most precise knowledge of the rules get to claim victory at the end of the day.
I beg to differ. Of course it is NOT a SIMULATION of WW2, in my mind that would be boring. And I NEVER claimed it to be a simulation. More I claimed it to be an interesting situation, that is "world-war-2-esque". It is a what-if, where players have a great amount of leeway. It is not an ego contest, of knowing the rules best. In fact I find it quite insulting to hear my work being talked of like that.
Please respect the work. The body of effort that has gone into making this.

... or more to the point, and challenging. If you think its not what you want to play, make something you want to play!

"If no game that you know of has ever gone past 1944"
Mostly because players will concede defeat as opposed to the 2nd World War, which was fought to the bitter end. As the Germans and Japanese fought to the bitter end.
As far as knowledge of the game goes I am a bit shaky on the rules, but I have a feel for what will work and what will not that comes from almost 50 years as a gamer so I would say my experience not my ego is the deciding factor in my game play.
As to the GD1938 MOD apart from the countless hours put in by Claus and Alexandre, thanks to them both, it showcases the strengths of the ATG system that does a fairly accurate job of interpreting 2nd world war tactical combat.
Land is simply schwerpunkt focus of force air art and tanks/infantry we could do with a larger map to my mind, probably the reason so many 2nd World War games only feature Europe because of just how huge a map would need to be, to recreate the world as a playable area.
Naval to my mind recreates the transition from Capitol ships to aviation driven combat the war at sea is won in the air.
Air Combat alone is a part of the game, and certainly the Battle of Britain can play out, as can the Allied Strategic Bombing campaign.

Hey...I tried to open the Japanese turn in game 18 and was told WRONG PASSWORD??? I tried several times, and even got it again from the folder, but I cannot open it and play my turn. I have used the same password since the start and have it written down in a notebook. What happens now?

Ahh I tried my password and it works for this Japanese turn, Falco is Italy in game 20,
I am Japan. So this is game 20 not 18 if Falco replays turn Germany/Italy game 18 turn 35 you should be back on track.
I placed the Germany/Italy Game18 turn 35 back in the folder, the Japanese turn was moved to game 20.
